Re: Rickety old defunct lifts.
Quite a few from the lists above ! The original double chair at West Mountain. The Triple at West Mountain The Pomas at Hickory ! Agree with this list! Rode all 4 of those back in the 80's/early 90's! Got stuck on the triple at West for about an hour one day back in the mid 80's. Talk about a sore ...

Re: Superstar chair
When Hunter replaced the original Sunlite Express they refurbished it, updated the terminals, and moved it to the west side. I think that was done in 1 summer and included replacing the HSQ with the current 6 pack. They removed the quad and installed the six-pack the first summer. The quad parts sa...

Re: Superstar chair
Its kind of scary how many lifts at Killington + Pico need to be replaced, not to mention the snow making system. I hope Mike is buying lottery tickets! Many ski areas are in similar situations with aging lifts nearing the end of their functional lifespans. If one is old enough, they can recall the...

Today was day 64. Weather permitting the next few weeks I will hit 70 days or more... my most since the early 90's!

Or just a winch cat that broke down with a good length of the wire out on a trail??CelebritySkin wrote: ↑Mar 1st, '24, 09:26 Not there today, but someone asked me. Was it a winch cable getting caught on a lift?

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin Fan Thread
Reports now coming in that she didn't sustain any fractures or ligament tears. Maybe a ligament strain and likely some decent bruising and soreness. The impression given is that she may be out for a week or 2 to recover, but not a season ending injury. Not nearly as bad as the into the net her boyfr...

Re: Needles Eye Quad status?
I think one of the challenges that may be in play here, and likely will be in play with numerous other lifts in the coming years is that Leitner-Poma doesn't really do full "gut and rehabs" of their older machines (for various reasons it seems like they'd much rather do a full tear down an...

Re: Mikaela Shiffrin Fan Thread
I have to think that last nights SL win, with all that happened to her boyfriend over the weekend in Wengen, has to rank right up there in her mind as one of the most emtoional wins of her career (likely right there with win #1, her 1st Olympic gold medal, her 1st win after her Dad passed away, etc)...

Current NE open terrain leaders: SR 255 acres SB 240 acres O 233 acres SL 226 acres K 224 acres Sto 215 acres Str 189 acres Loon 154 acres Looking at this list, 3 of the 4 resorts that are "ahead" of K are at more northern latitudes. I assume that means better snowmaking conditions? As fo...
Re: Expansion
I heard several weeks ago they were shooting for MLK weekend for Skyeship Base. Presumably they are moving in new furniture, etc. at this point. We’ll know it’s close when we see food trucks unloading! Temps really aren’t great at that elevation for the push but Thursday night is okay. I’ve heard u...

Re: Glove Recommendation
Kinco's with a layer or 2 of snoseal and for me atleast, a medium thickness glove liner, and I am good to go, and they last a good long time. You don't see a bunch of lifties, patrollers, instructors and various other on the hill employees wearing them because they don't cost tons of $$
Re: Expansion
Superstar opening 1 week later than in years past ? Wow They have both a high level athlete training camp and then a high level (not too far below Worldcup level) race on that pod in the roughly week after the worldcup. Hence the Dec 8th targeted opening to the general public for that pod So Killin...
