Re: Former CIA officer for Middle East speaks out

http://www.foreignaffairs.org/20060301faessay85202/paul-r-pillar/intelligence-policy-and-the-war-in-iraq.html Screw this Pillar piece of sh*t. I'm sick of sh*t academics coming out of the woodwork years later. Where was this scumbag when we needed him? I'll tell you where: Protecting his career, th...

Former CIA officer for Middle East speaks out

For anyone wondering about both pre-Iraq war intelligence and how the Bush Administration works with the intelligence services, Paul Pillar the former CIA National Intelligence Officer in charge of the Middle East wrote an interesting article in the current issue of Foreign Affairs: http://www.forei...

MLK, Jr was a strong pacifist and spoke out against the Vietnam War before Tonkin Gulf, for which he was roundly criticized by both Democrats and Republicans as being a communist sympathizer. I think you can say with a fair degree of certainty that he would have spoken out against the Iraq war. XJ -...

Broadly speaking, the right believes that the liberal agenda includes generous support for social welfare programs, protection of civil liberties, the environment, abortion rights, and increased budgets for education. It may also include increasing aid to the third world, support for the UN, intern...

Yeah, how did this thread get so sidetracked?? (I've got some theories) Anyway, there is no organized, universal "liberal agenda", in the same way that there is (or was) no "vast right wing conspiracy". It's a simplistic means for various people to identify and communicate broad ...

I've had Sirius for almost a year: Pros: - No commercials and actual variety, especially compared to the increasingly vanilla offerings on FM these days - Good reception almost everywhere (lose signal in tunnels, sometimes going under overpasses) including Vermont - Some great stations, and they've ...

Pizza - don't know you but congrats on just getting on a bike and trying. More people should do the same. It starts out slow and 20 miles can be an accomplishment, but I ride with several 200+ lb guys that are great riders. They've just developed some good strength to weight ratio. You'll get there....

I've bought skis, bindings and clothes on eBay (plus bought and sold other non-ski related items) with no problems, but it will probably only be a matter of time until you may start to see a similar impact on skiing that eBay and e-commerce in general have had on cycling and local bike shops (LBS). ...

Anyone have SPIKED tires? Yup, Nokian Extreme 296's, a great studded tire: http://www.mtbr.com/reviews/Tire/product_23286.shtml But studded tires only work well on ice, hard pack climbs and downhill on snow. Climbing on spring snow with them is a bitch (heavy and no traction advantage), but they're...

36 of us are going to the 3 Valleys with Boston Ski and Sports club from March 11-21, skiing 6 days + 1 day in Geneva, staying in La Tania. From the area websites, it looks like they have good conditions - can't wait. As for food, went on a BSSC trip to Cortina, Italy last year and after paying 6-12...

I've enjoyed some of Moore's work, but never really considered it documentary as much as biased, thought provoking entertainment (and I'm a moderate/liberal). Some better documentaries to see about our world today: Gunner Palace (in limited release now): http://www.gunnerpalace.com/ http://movies2.n...

Was up at Jay on Sunday, but was staying in East Burke. I didn't see any new places, but the mountain was in good shape with just a few wind blown icy sections and good cover in the glades.
