Re: Damage at K

FWIW: First of all, I am enjoying my normal Labor Day vacation on northern Lake Champ, not recovering from Irene like 5 years ago [and for the next 10 weeks and more the next summer]. All I really wanted to add was that Irene was not a 100 or 500 year storm. Its more like every 40 years. As I was w...

Re: Top to bottom?

I managed to sneak in a run and a half late this afternoon (up the gondi, once up the triple, and then all the way down, between 2 and 3). Snow conditions were actually pretty good; based on what I had heard about yesterday's surfaces, I was thinking that I might wish I had my silly-season skis here...

Re: Rt 100 N to Sugarbush and beyond

Iceman and I are hoping to play 9 holes at White River Columbus day weekend which is why I'm asking. I guess I'll have to feel it out when we get closer to that date. It looks now like it wouldn't be do-able Is that the golf course on the west side of 100, i.e. between 100 and the river? If so, I'd...

Re: Route 4 Mendon progress

kbroderick thanks for the info, we'd be trying to get our place down Rustic Dr., I figured that that first stream crossing off Doubleday had probably washed out. Knowing the topography around our place I'm pretty confident we're ok, sounds like its best to stay out of the way and give everyone more...

Re: Route 4 Mendon progress

Wow just unbelievable. These guys deserve huge credit for getting this done so fast. So now that Rt. 4 will be open soon and we'll be able to get back up to town does anyone know the condition of 100 North to Coffee House Rd & Doubleday Hill? The VTrans website says 100 North is local traffic o...

Re: Want To Try To Get To House Friday Night

sight seers and rubber neckers should be run off the f'n road or busted like a drunk that is impaired for driving. I can't believe how many people are driving at 10 to 20 MPH below the speed limit so they can gawk at washouts, damaged homes and other sights. You want a tour take the bus. Otherwise ...

Re: Property and Other Damage Reports

Is it true that Hemmingways and Pasta Pot are gone? I thought I saw Hemmingways in an aerial photo, looked like the parking lot was a mud pit. I believe that Pasta may have lost a walk-in or two and that the worst damage to Hemingway's was the parking lot. I can't find a reference at the moment, bu...

Re: Roads washed out

I wouldn't do this but couldn't you go up the trail that was cut between Pico and ramshead You can reach Pico from Killington via Route 4 no problem. The problem lies in Mendon near Sugar and Spice. See the Vermont Flooding 2011 Facebook page and look for the "ride to work" video. It's ta...

Re: Pico

Do you know anything about building C? Have a winter lease in that building starting in a few months. TPW not returning my calls. I know that H and G got rather wet. I don't know about C, I'll see what I can find out tomorrow. My guess would be that TPW is running into some of the same issues we al...

Re: Pico

The Pico base area got flooded. Ground-level and below-ground-level condos near the Sports Center were knee-deep in water and thus have substantial muck, sheetrock damage, etc. I'm planning to head over to one tomorrow with a couple of friends and remove the furniture so that a contractor can get in...

On a mountain bike, it can be done. I've not heard of anything heavier getting through and I've only seen photos of the end nearest Route 4, which bears little resemblance to a road at this time.

Re: Damage at K

Does anyone know if you can get up to Pico? I have to pick up my daughter who is up there with my ex. From Killington, or from The Outside ? From Killington, no problem. From elsewhere, the official word is no, and the unofficial workarounds (particularly a pedestrian path between Journey's End in ...
