Get out to Plattekill. If you love powder, you'll think you've find one of the East's great post-storm nirvanas. The place skis bigger than it is and there are a ton of little side trails, mtb bike trails and trees to ski there. It's rustic, old fashioned skiing at its best.

It reminds me of last year. The 5-7 day forecast always had a storm a few days out that never materialized. I don't think the weather folks have a clue what's really happening. They seem to be just as frustrated, amazed and confused as we are.

I'm up to 7 for the season. I'll be lucky to top 8 by the end of the year since I have my own personal policy to avoid the Christmas Chaos. Can't wait until January when I'm living in Utah and will be able to ski Alta nearly everyday (until I have to get a job).

This past weekend was a blanket DWI patrol here in NY...at least in the capital district. Cops absolutely everywhere, throwing in a few DWI checkpoints as well. Word is that they're going to be continuing the efforts through to New Year's.
