Re: Timing of Killington Forward

Received this email from a salesperson for the new village as a result of filling out the information request on the Six Peaks website a while back: Hello KingsFourMan, My name is Bryan Gillam and I am the Senior Sales Executive for the Village. I am reaching out to see where your interest lies with...

Re: Sunday, April 14th

The lifty at the Needles Eye chair summed it up perfectly with "sneaky good one out there today huh?" It most certainly was way better than expected. Blue bird skies, an inch or so of fresh overnight, and soft easy to carve snow everywhere made for a fantastic morning of skiing. Only thing...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

New village units will end up at auction just like the Grand. If they all even get built out to capacity. I believe Killington named a trail after that . . . . . Which one, the Throne? That would be appropriate. I walked through that place shortly after it was completed and saw a couple of the unit...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

I would disagree. The taxes matter even if you are a 2nd or 3rd homeowner. It may not matter for those well inside the top 1%, but it matters to the top 2% to 10% (of the 1 to 2% of ski families that would buy ski real estate in New England) that need to be killingtons market for that village, whet...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

>1000$ seems likely. It was at >500$ fifteen years ago. That was pre-Act 250. So a 1,500sf unit at $1,000/sf will be $1,500,000. To be in the parking lot of Snowshed and pay between $20-30K a year in taxes and another $6-$12,000 in HOA fees? I just don't get it. Even at Stowe I don't get it but at ...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

Back to the conversation about opportunity cost between a $1M investment in VT real estate, or the equivalent investment in CO. Not that I'm looking to make a million-dollar investment in either but that is what it will now cost me to build a house in VT, that we have been dreaming about for 20 year...

Re: 105" in the last 26 days

Today's snow report says "Howdy Beast Fans" again, how are we supposed to go and enjoy all this new snow now that they've done that, they obviously don't give a rats ass about our feelings. I feel totally invalidated. I'm going to spend Saturday in my safe space instead.

Isn't that terrain down there popular with the intermediate and family crowd? Killington is in short supply of that terrain as is. Losing that access point would suck.

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

In some respects, I feel like we are becoming our grandparents or parents that groaned about how gas was 25 cents a gallon when they were going on dates in high school. Everything has gone up. A lot. There's still post COVID shortages in some materials. That huge porch is a big item. So is the dual...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

While $175/ft strikes me as lower end of the scale, 1MM for 2,100 feet does sound luxurious. That's $476/ft and you already own the land. Since the home was described as "designed" that likely invalidates all the usual averages. Does it have a long driveway, lots of glass, complicated flo...

Re: Mountain Green Sales?

One of the first rules in purchasing vacation property is not to buy it as an investment. You buy it because you want to enjoy it, and any subsequent appreciation in value comes as a bonus. That is exactly right and is exactly what we did, we were not thinking investment at all...but knowing what I...

Shortly after Mike took over at Killington, seeing that things were starting to turn around there after the disastrous Otten and Nyburg years, I sent Mike an email telling him that me and my family had stopped skiing Killington as a result of what it had turned into since Pres Smith sold it and that...
