I suspect you'll develop an appreciation for zoning when someone builds a pig farm next door to you... Zoning does allow a pig farm next door to me. But it doesn't allow a pig farm everywhere , even though—no doubt—there are private operators who'd love to put one in places the zoning doesn't allow.

I can't believe people are trying to defend a mountain shrinking rather than expanding. I think you're misunderstanding. A number of the shrinkage decisions were really deplorable. Okemo took away the customers that cared about grooming and snowmaking quality. That's a totally different clientele than the Killington skier who wants a long season and steep terrain that has snowmaking. Killington doesn't have just one kind of customer.
