Re: Plans canceled for $2B resort on Long Island
^ I did too but I chalked it up to the fact that to keep a building at below 32* in Dubai the energy cost must be enormous. Ski Dubai runs 12 hours a day 7 days a week, with a 70cm base depth and has 23 air conditioners(got to be massive ones). They've got 5 runs served by snowmaking, I'm betting th...

Re: Plans canceled for $2B resort on Long Island
I never realized what a giant waste those those indoor skiing things are until I read last months Backcountry magazine: Apparently the amount of energy required to run SKI Dubai is equal to 3,500 barrels of oil a day. Or enough to drive 3 MILLION miles. Or you could take 500 people(1/3 of Dubai's da...

Re: Go Pro camera..anyone have/use one?
had a gopro, like my VIO-POV much better First the battery life on the go pro was absolute crap, it CONSTANTLY died from the cold even with lithiums. Second I missed more shots with the camera aimed too high or too low, without a screen you have no idea where you're shooting nor can you view what yo...

Re: Terrible Article on Vt Rte 100 Skiing in POWDER
all the pictures were meathead stock photos from 3-4 years ago funny I was about to post the same very disappointed feelings with the article. 10" at magic and the only thing he could find to ski was a groomer? Even in the crappiest conditions 10" is game on at Magic.(or anywhere else in t...

Re: Whats up with the cascade run out?
Really? I've found in limited experience with golf course irrigation systems most superintendents would rather run all metal underground vs plastic I've heard 2 reasons. One is that metal is stronger so you can run a smaller diameter and increase presure to the sprinkler heads and two is when you DO...

Re: Walking up the stairway
its going to depend on what ski boots you're wearing, it's going to suck a lot wearing plug boots and lugging 30 pound's worth of skis and bindings. If you're rocking AT or Tele gear its likely to be easierthorski wrote:You are a straight up Pansy if you complain about the walk up the stairs in ski boots.

Whats up with the cascade run out?
There's 5 holes, one near each hydrant and they've got a leak in what looks like the main pipe heading into the canyons dk919ow68ug Obviously they've got to fix the leak in the main line but I'm wondering why they'd be replacing the pipe that leads to the hydrants at this late a date. To me that wou...

I'll be interested to see which way they'll go, if temps stay warm do they go towards canyon quad for extra uphill capacity or do they continue to attack upper snowdon and hope they'll be able to link it top to bottom in the next 2 weeks
