Re: IKON 20/21

Just up the road, buying a Sugarbush pass gets you Killington and Stratton access. Buying a killington pass gets you nothing else. Seems to me the decision to stick their head in the sand is a Killington one, and the decision to not allow Killington passholders any access to POWDr properties is a PO...

Re: Love skiing? Enjoy it while it lasts

I have been skiing woods and nats for two weeks (watching where I go), and the snowmaking trails have been good to very good before that. Far majority of K customers have been kept happy. This upcoming holiday period is shaping up to be their big cash flow event that will carry the season for them. ...

Re: Love skiing? Enjoy it while it lasts

Gotta feel sorry for anyone investing in southern VT skiing. Going to be hit harder with shorter season, less snowfall, more r*in, increased costs versus Killington and farther north. Not that they care so much about early/late, but any changes in this direction are forecast to make things more expe...

Re: wednesday 2/12/2020 report

Not something I would normally recommend, but given that the natural trails have a lot of stiff crud layers and broken slabs, maybe some should be groomed for that once a year maintenance treatment that sometimes happens. Its going to be a high volume weekend coming up, time to show off the place. A...

Re: Lift Discussion

Always a good thing to hear from the top man. Yes, lifts are complicated and subject to a lot of variables. So are the lifts at the competition which run well. A lot on this board has been pointing out the continued issues with new lifts at Killington, and why they continually do not perform as desi...

Re: Whats up with the lifts at K ???

Various industries are chock full of good practices that prevent pests from doing harm, prevent water from getting where it shouldn't, control the external environments around sensitive or critical items. Every winter we hear of all the same root causes of mouse/squirrel/water/ice. I guess no one in...

Re: new lodge or lifts that run??

Since Killington does not do anything to mitigate or fix any 6 pack issues, we get easy targets to hit. Here are some possible reasons why: Regularly stops. - Management must feel that the stops are not objectionable Crushes the knees of taller riders in the outer seats. - probably designed with chi...

Re: new lodge or lifts that run??

Sunday was pretty nice, no real noticeable lift issues that I saw between 8am and 11:30 hitting Superstar, Bear Chair, Skye Peak quad, Needles quad, 6 pack. Just a few short stoppages. Saturday had big lines on Superstar, Bubble for example at the peak times mid morning, then they went away after 11...

Re: new lodge or lifts that run??

POWDR looks at the customer feedback and tries to fix/improve those aspects that are rated negative. Although we do not get to see what those feedback numbers are, I can easily see how the K1 lodge was a big detractor for the customer experience, maybe number one. And since it is a big revenue gener...

Re: Multi-Mountain Passes

As long as Killington has capacity remaining to increase attendance, they will offer Ikon days so people can buy their food & beverage. And as long as they do not wish to share any revenue with others, we will not get any Ikon rights elsewhere. Not even POWDR resort rights, which should be a no ...

By any chance did they also stay at the old Stone Hut atop Stowe recently? With a last name of Burton?

Re: How many days have you skied/ridden this 2019-2020 seaso

33 all K days. Tired of carving trails most of the day. One condition is fun but that's why there are different flavors of beer. Did some Low Rider turns yesterday, too many things sticking up visible or just under the surface. Should be enjoying a lot more terrain if it wasn't for that warm up week...

Re: Fire at Grand Hotel

You can bet that the insurance company will be asking for the records of chimney cleaning for that unit and every unit that they insure. And those records need to show that someone "qualified" did the work or performed it under the supervision of someone qualified. You can also bet that th...

Re: Lift problems now a very regular fact of life at K and t

We can factor in weather (ice, wind, severe cold) to some of the K lift problems, but when we are at the competition their lifts seem to run so much better despite any weather encountered. After a while its painfully obvious that Killington operates differently. Don't even compare to western operati...
