Re: Snowmaking and Terrain Expansion Thread (2024-2025)
As of just before 3:00 PM today, it was 37F (car thermometer reading) at K-1 and they're still blowing up top as well as Superstar down to the base.

Slide your credit card at ev stations Meter at home VT is proposing ev tax to make up the difference After you swipe your card, what is the charge based on? Cents per kWh? Yup. Typically quite a bit higher than what u pay at home. Unless u have a Tesla Model 1 and charge at a Tesla station. Free ch...

Re: EV Charging Questions
VT seems to have already addressed this with an infrastructure fee added to the registration starting Jan 1, 2025. https://dmv.vermont.gov/registrations/fees/ev-infrastructure-fee I remember seeing that but I’d guess it’s only the beginning. Those fees don’t compare to the money raised by a gas tax.

EV Charging Questions
With all the EV charging stations I see around these days, I was wondering how (or if) they charge the customers for the power used. Not that I'm going to buy an EV, but Vermont (and I'm sure other states) have been losing gas tax dollars used to maintain roads and at least here in Vermont, the legi...

Re: $6.00 gas?
Average gasoline prices dropped in Vermont last week but are still above the national average. You know why? My top 3 reasons: 1) High State gasoline taxes 2) Distance from refinery 3) Being a rural state, many gas stations don't have the volume to offer prices as low as states with larger cities. ...

Re: Opening Day?
I think the village has a lot to do with the value of early season "marketing snow". The people spending a million dollars plus on village real estate are not the people who will be dying to put skis to snow in October and/or early November, nor are the early season diehards the main custo...

Hey , I’m getting board waiting for the weather to change and for the mountain to start making snow , do any of you zoners have any stories about going to concerts back in the 70s they would be really fun to listen to until the snow starts to fly Your English teacher is rolling in their grave. Wow....

Re: Opening Day?
I will concede that this is their first opportunity to open and stay open, and that any attempt earlier would not have been continuous operation. I wanted to see them compete with Sunday River for bragging rights, and I was, and still am pissed that they didn't. I'm skeptical about snowmaking effor...

Re: Opening Day?
At this point, I've lost all confidence. In the past, I'm sure they would've gone for it. Now, I'm not so sure. It's a completely different standard now. They are way more picky about when to make snow, and they don't seem to care about when they open or with how much terrain. Expect a bare minimum...

Guns on Friday. And now it’s official: Mother Nature is finally giving us a window to start making snow this weekend and we are primed and ready to let our new high-efficiency snow guns do their magic! The snowmaking team will fire up the guns on North Ridge and Superstar sometime late Friday night...

Re: $6.00 gas?
Drill baby drill. My two cents. But I'm garbage. More drilling means more supply which results in lower prices which results in cutbacks in production which results in higher prices. Right now we're producing more oil than anyone else in the world, more natural gas than ever, and exporting both. Th...
