Re: Did anyone notice....
The park on Snowshed disappeared in the mid 00s as terrain park popularity was exploding exponentially... that's pretty telling how awful it was.

Re: Chute/BB Tunnel
It's a shitty tunnel and people were saying that from day one. You still get tons of crossing traffic and scraped off ice. Going over that lip is the worst part of Killington, IMO, as people are cutting across from GN to get to Chute. Literally perpendicular to the slope in a blind spot. To do it &q...
Re: expansion
For the top portion of Header, I think it comes so late in the rollout because it is a very wide trail with only ground gun snowmaking. It's nearly as wide as Superstar. I would think it takes at least 5 days of snowmaking, and extensive grooming to get it open. So it's a lower priority when they h...
Re: expansion
No one does. It is surprisingly fun natural though. Same with Timberline.boston_e wrote: ↑Dec 3rd, '21, 14:31I've never understood why that is usually so late in the rollout...newpylong1 wrote: ↑Dec 3rd, '21, 13:55 Let's hope the rest of Header doesn't get pushed to the end like usual for some reason.
Re: expansion
I'd like to see them just keep things as-is until they can make snow on most of everything...because as Newpy pointed out yeah there's the "typical" stuff they skip but there's a lot of other stuff that's just been abandoned. Like upper dream would be great with snowmaking... rocks and sou...
Re: expansion
...and of course there's usually a number of trails they skip over completely. This is why, while I'd love to see it...I don't see snowmaking returning on the Fiddle. The Fiddle is an "If we have time" trail. And ask yourself this - If Great Bear is now an early season snowmaking trail, s...
Re: expansion
I don't think anyone has more than 12000 gpm. That's also what Mount Snow claims to have since the West Lake project. There's a reason why Killington still had more terrain open than anyone else this past weekend, despite the World Cup. It's been marginal (for the most part) and K is one of the few...
Re: expansion
Thats a sh*t ton of water. Can they use the 4k GPM from bear on the basin side? I think the answer is yes but I can't remember. Interestingly enough my little hill in PA pumps 5500 GPM. For it's size K pumps comparatively little water....borderline under-sized GPM capacity. K makes good quality sno...

Re: Route 100 in Plymouth to close for a month
Sheriffs will be in their glory, zero tolerance for speed limit excesses is my guess. we all know what to do, let others get hammered there. Good info. lol isn't that already the case. I was following someone coming home from K one afternoon doing 38mph. The guy ahead got pulled over and he couldn'...

Re: 2021 World Cup
Anyone know the contingency plan to get athletes to the top of supe in case of wind?
NOAA forecasting sustained 35-40mph wind Friday night-Saturday night. In my experience that's pretty borderline on whether or not the wind exposed lifts (like Superstar) run, depending on wind direction.

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!
I'm getting nervous. The production you get with 5 nights at 25 degrees (like they've been getting) is nothing compared to just 2 nights at 15 degrees. It looks like its just going to stay marginal, never getting below 20.

Re: Snowmaking Science & Strategy
I believe start-up temp needs to be a bit lower. What do you mean by start-up temps? What needs to start-up? Either the conditions are favorable to make snow or not. You say "marginal". This is beyond marginal...they *could* probably make "snow" right now but the guns could go f...

Re: Snowmaking Science & Strategy
I believe start-up temp needs to be a bit lower. Also, you say they are "clearly not" making snow on Supe. Temps will keep dropping tonight...it's only 11pm. Coldest hours are between 2am and 8am. You say "marginal". This is beyond marginal...they *could* probably make "snow...

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!
They're not gonna fly in athletes, cameras, network partners, etc unless they're 100% sure its happening. I strongly doubt there's much of any leeway. Either be 99% ready to go 10 days before or you're s.o.l. Theoretically let's say they need just 24 hours of snowmaking on snow control day and ther...
