Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!

They're not gonna fly in athletes, cameras, network partners, etc unless they're 100% sure its happening. I strongly doubt there's much of any leeway. Either be 99% ready to go 10 days before or you're s.o.l. Theoretically let's say they need just 24 hours of snowmaking on snow control day and there...

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!

They get an OK window Wednesday night then it gets cold again starting next Sunday. It's going to be tight. Looks like they've got a good base down especially above the bottom pitch.

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!

I would think they would just focus on stockpiling Rime/Supe rather than expanding terrain with the long-ish warm/wet stretch coming up next week.

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!

Production hasn't been that great; as expected with a very marginal wet bulb. Tomorrow and Thursday night are hammer down as temps get in lower 20s and dryer. Maybe a Thursday PM passholder day, unknown yet. Still a lot to lay down. I was gonna say, not much down at all. Grass is barely coated at t...

Re: Killington: A chronic underachiever

Killington's demographic is a little of everything, and not a lot of anything. The resort doesn't really cater to a particular type of clientele, rather the mountain experience appeals to many factions with often competing features.. Agreed 100%. K has never been the absolute best in anything (save...

Re: Narrower trails

I'm in the minority but I'd like to see them cut a Rumble-esque trail thru Juanita or somewhere off Launch Pad. I always hear the argument "but tree skiing". That's the only area on the mountain with the elevation, pitch, and exposure that could support a good, natural, narrow expert trail...

Re: Superstar Snow Guns Are Turned On!

I doubt the stuff on Supe will even stay. November 1 and a bare trail with the WC clock ticking... start sweating.

Looks like another cold front comes through early next week. But this past weekend also looked like it was going to be good for productive snowmaking then that didn't pan out at all.

Re: Dedicated Express Access Lanes

It's ironic that we were recently discussing the notion of Vail owning K, and whether things would be different for better or worse. I was one who was glad Powdr owned K. Then they pull this. Totally ironic. Hilarious actually. Why invest a hundred plus million dollars on new state of the art lifts...

Re: Anyone else excited about skipping the lines?

Congrats on (presumably) being in the top 2% of earner's at Killington. Please spend 10s of thousands of $$$ a year so us unwashed masses can continue to afford to ski!

Re: Dedicated Express Access Lanes

Doesn't have to be a "lot" of those against vaccination. If 1 in 20 are against the shot then that's a lot of departments that will be down 3-5 people. That's a whole lift crew on a weekend.

In reality I'm sure it's more than 1/20 who are against the vaccine.

Re: Anyone been over by the Jug recently ?

Went to ride Solitude today only to discover it was closed. I walked in about 20 yards. It looks like they are cutting it wider, probably back to it's original width before overgrowth took over. If that's true it's the biggest waste of $$$ for gas for the chainsaw and the paid labor I've ever heard...

Re: What now? A labor shortage...

No one has a work ethic anymore. If I were a teenager today, I'd be working about 100 hours a week and making a fortune. Probably can't even get a teenager to work 40 hours a week now a days. Not true in all cases. I know some kids that made north of 25k this summer banging nails and waiting on tab...

Re: Vail Resorts Capital Plan

Along the same lines do you know if the Bear Redevelopment Phase I passed the town's Site Review? It was scheduled a while ago and there is no Act 250 application yet so I assume not yet. Someone told me they have reached their presales numbers and will be ready to acquire the land from KPSP and bu...

Re: Vail Resorts Capital Plan

I never really understood the "Killington lost its market share to Okemo because Killington started sucking in the early 00s". Okemo simply boomed later than K. K exploded in the late 70s thru the 80s then stagnated. Okemo was relatively small then added Solitude in the 80s, South Face in ...
