Re: If only that shag carpet could talk...

"weird" and "character" are good in moderation... that just looks like an absolute nightmare to renovate into something partially decent. Place looks like it was built in 1970 and then never touched.

Re: Expansion

There's 6-12" of base glop coming tonight on top of what will be some (if inconsequential) natural left... followed by a week of cold... seems like a decent setup for Christmas week compared to the many worse outcomes that have happened over the years.

Re: Expansion

You'd have to be a real asshole to write to a resort GM this time of year period...let alone complain about something I'm sure they're already 1000% aware of.... let alone have nothing constructive to say.

Re: Opening schedule for the rest of the mountain

If you're really asking if it's worth it... kids and a 7.5 hour drive day... no it's not going to be worth it... no matter what's available.

Re: Why No Powdr Pass?

First, POWDR properties are all pretty spread out. Any multi-mountain aspect would go pretty much unused (save for a very select few Denverites who would visit both Copper and Eldora). Second, go to Snowbird or Copper today. They are already MOBBED by Ikoners which Powdr is making money off of for e...

Re: Another week, another monsoonal event

agree w k4m, back in the 50's/60's if this was the prevailing weather, there wouldn't be any eastern skiing as we know it. in those days snowmaking was just a supplement or used to expand the season. Most New England ski resorts, including Killington, originally opened and operated for several year...

Re: Diesel Compressors

Seems a bit disingenuous for Killington to keep talking about "Play Forever" while still using diesel compressors that go through fuel by the tanker truck load. Isn't it time to retire them like so many other places have? I'm wondering if we'll see additional Ingersoll Rand NX-500 Centac ...

Re: Diesel Compressors

20 fan guns around the mountain in high traffic areas that already have utilities would be a great first step and you could eliminate a number of compressors doing that. Bottom of Rams, K1 lodge area, Snowshed ttb widely spaced, bottom of Needle's, bottom of Bear, maybe one with a swivel somewhere o...

Re: Christmas / New Years Week Looking Promising

Looks like on the Bear cam they did an initial "groom" on Skyeburst totally on natural and it looks GREAT with nothing sticking through.

Hopefully they can start opening snowmaking trails with 12-18hrs of work instead of 36-48hrs with this nice base now.

Re: Snowmaking - It's Not The Same

Sucks they have to make snow on bare ground. A 12" base of natural would make things go soooooo much faster.
