Re: sunday cinco de mayo non-report
It was pretty bad. But it was my last day this season (#178) so I had to get it in. Aside from a long dirt and rocks section on Nivis by Ovation headwall, everything skied nicely. No complaints except for the r*in. Enjoy the summer!

Re: friday 4/12 report
Started at the bubble at 9. The two of us were the only ones there at the open. We skied mainly on Snowden as my friend was testing out a new ACL brace. The r*in stopped around 9:30, a few showers from time to time after that. It was enjoyable skiing, nice soft snow, definitely a ghost town.

Re: Monday 4/8 total eclipse of the heart report
We took the "Eclipse train" up to Burlington. No traffic, no issues. We found a brewery on the lakefront, it was fun. At eclipse time it got dark, much cooler. I guess it lasted 3 or 4 minutes. The whole trip was well worth it, even though we lost a day of skiing. As the eclipse was starti...

Re: Thursday, Feb 29th - Leap Day
The gondi and bubble were running at the start and we took the gondi up, as usual. Off to East Fall - nice pow along skier's left near the trees. Cascade too was best along the left side. Corduroy in the middle was a bit firm, but fine. Then a do over of East Fall. It was still good. No one was out ...

Re: Sat. 2-17 Report
Rusty, last year I had a hairline fracture in my tibia. The ER in Rutland did an X ray and said it was a sprain. A few days later I went to the yellow clinic and they did a sonogram and said it was a hairline fracture. I kept skiing on it anyway - painful but why not. It took 8 weeks to heal.

Re: monday 2/12 report
The K-1 gondola was down this morning until about 10:30. We took the bubble up, then Northridge up and skied Cascade. We thought it was very good. Groomed, no one else skied it. It felt like a private run. We did 5 laps on it using the Canyon chair, then when the gondi started up, the mob came and t...

Re: fast track pricing
Last year, on day 100, they loaded a Fast Track ticket onto our passes for that day. I seem to remember using the Fast Track lane for maybe two runs. It didn't seem like it really helped us, but I think it was a weekday anyway. Tomorrow, 2/10, will be day 100 for this season. It might be more useful...

Re: Needles Eye Quad status?
We stopped at the top of the lift this AM and chatted with a mechanic there. He said they found the drive part somewhere in Wisconsin (ski resort? junkyard?) and they'd be able to load test it this week or next. And open it the week after. We'll see. Panic/Needles skied really nice today.

SPQ and Bear Quad were both down at the same time this AM. I did not see any ropes up to keep you from going over to Bear. One of the Ambassadors told me there are a lot of people over there trying to get on the shuttles back. Incredible.

Re: Friday, January 26, 2024
Six pack was running with people on it when I bailed at 10. North Ridge was not running. Triple seemed slower than normal and made plenty of stops. Snow surface varied from frozen up higher to nice soft snow as you descended. Too bad they didn't have more than basically one lift open.

Re: Opening Day?
On the webcam this AM, it looked like there was a gun blowing at GN and DD. I thought they'd try for top to NR on day 1. I took a ride up and ran into Barb who was returning from her hike to the top. I asked her and she said there was no snowmaking on GN.
