Re: Killington Capital Investments & Summer discussion
Pico is in the Otter Creek watershed - r*in/snow melt there drains to Lake Champlain. Killington r*in/snow melt drains to the Connecticut River. There is limited water at Pico, and the state will NEVER allow K to pump water from one watershed to another. I don't see anything about Vermont banning I...

you sound like a whiny kid. $6 out of your paycheck? cry me a river. get one fewer beers after work each week. better yet, get off your PSIA pedestal and learn another department. Job sharing's still a thing there - when I oversaw a large base area not to be named a few years back, I would have kill...

The VSP tells you they are stepping up enforcement and checkpoints, and you whine about it? Here's a novel idea, don't drink and drive, especially during gaper season.

Re: Is the Interconnect in Killington Resorts Plans?
pico pond is privately owned - there's a nice little house on it. i doubt it would ever sell.
that said, its at over 2000 feet in elevation and considered a high elevation pond, just like sterling pond at smuggs is. the state would NEVER let you pull water out for snowmaking.

Re: Factor this into your snowmaking budget
costs associated with compressed air related to snowmaking outweigh those associated with moving water by more than 2:1. Almost 100% of K's air compressors are diesel. so yeah, its slightly cheaper to make snow in ME when looking at electrical costs. However, there are so many other factors to consi...

Re: Is the Interconnect in Killington Resorts Plans?
water is a major factor in the interconnect not getting built, but not just the fact that pico has very limited supplies... water from the pico side of the pass drains to the otter creek river. water from the killington side drains to the white river. permitting is tricky - or impossible - to pump w...

Re: Factor this into your snowmaking budget
interesting tid-bit... VT average energy price across all sectors is significantly lower than the NE average. Commercial sector is a bit under NE average, and Industrial sector is much lower. It's not all doom and gloom when you compare VT energy prices to other NE states. Comparing the price of ene...

Kathy - food court cashier
Kathy passed away last week. She had worked at killington for 35 years and was usually found running a register at either KBL or Snowshed food courts. Some of you might remember her, but I'd bet almost all of you handed her your payment for lunch at the mountain at some point.

Re: Vail Buys PCMR
curious how expanding lodging and building the interconnect would drive any major increase in skier visits. its not like there's a shortage of lodging options at K and, at least when i worked there, it NEVER sold out. The interconnect would be cool, but who is going to visit killington if the projec...
