Poaching and other questions answered
It appears that KZone has taken a turn back to the old days of conspiracy theories around how we manage the resort and I’d like to set a few items straight. The first is around poaching. We have cameras placed around the resort for various reasons but primarily so we can remotely monitor operations ...

Re: New lodge update
The building was designed for people to bring their skis up through the lodge (not in the cafeteria). We encountered a few issues as the doors that were installed were not correct so the are too narrow and not tall enough. We decided to keep skis outside but since this fix will take time we have dec...

Re: sunday 12/18 report
Hi everyone - just reading through comments and see discussions about us not being aggressive in snowmaking. Rest assured there is always an urgency to expand. We are always maxed out on water or air depending on the situation. During the storm we lost power Friday at Bear which took offline some of...
Re: expansion
thanks for posting a reply, Mike. One reason to follow kZone is how Killington management and employees read this MsgBoard and react, cry and laugh along with everyone else. My only wiseass question (not requiring a response unless you feel compelled!) for GM Slim Mike is on the internal trail coun...
Re: expansion
Thank you Mike for chiming in. My only unanswered lingering concern at this point (also because I can't come up with a logical answer) is why Upper Header is either last or in the case of last year (and possibly this year?) does not receive snowmaking at all? I would think from a resort perspective...
Re: expansion
The "new" Mountain Operations Director was the Operations Manager prior to this year (when Temple was the Director) and has been there since the 90s. They have made plenty of questionable moves but he certaily knows what he is doing. I have not commented here in a while, but I have read s...

Fast Tracks at Killington
I know there has been a lot of discussion here about the release of the fast tracks program. I continue to be blown away by the passion you all share for Killington. I must remind you though, you aren’t alone. I along with the rest of the Killington team and Powdr share the same passion for making T...

Snow total reporting
I read the post on snow total reporting and fIgured I would reply to let you know how the process works. I understand many think there is some grand plan or conspiracy going on with snow totals. I think in the past there probably was sometimes. For the last several years at least since I have been i...

Re: No Pico 2020-21 Season . . . Fake News ? ?
I have not been on here is a while - you must be bored to come up with this one - we have had no discussion of this topic. definitely fake news. Season Pass sales are doing well at both mountains....

Lift Discussion
Here are some thoughts related to some recent posts I have seen here: Last weekend, we experienced electrical issues at Bear Mountain Quad and Snowshed Express Quad. In the case of Snowshed, a mouse chewed through wiring, causing a short in the electrical system. Meanwhile, at Bear Mountain, a burie...

Re: Fire at Grand Hotel
This morning, at around 3:55am, a chimney fire was reported at the Grand Hotel and staff immediately called 911. Thankfully, no one was hurt. Staff did a great job evacuating guests to nearby Snowshed Base Lodge while the fire department extinguished the fire. Currently, the Grand Hotel is fully ope...

Power Outage
Yesterday morning a tree fell and knocked out our power at approximately 9:40 am. Additionally, it knocked out our radios which hindered communication between staff making it difficult to get information to guests in a timely fashion. Green Mountain Power fixed the problem and restored power by earl...

Re: John Cumming steps down as head of POWDR
To clarify and stop the speculation. John's health is actually very good. He has been managing his MS very well in past few years. The reality is that with his fathers passing, he has too many other responsibilities and several other companies to oversee to be involved in the day to day operations o...
