Re: Urea - We have a winner
That they can't make a path if the entire middle is melted out is obvious. But the entire middle is not melted out, yet. It is a matter of whether they can connect those patches. And yes, all we are looking for is a viable path, albeit with some walking, for three hours on Saturday. Would they have ...

Re: Urea - We have a winner
The skiing was quite fun yesterday, but ... required some grass skiing segments to link up the middle stretch ... and that was before the r*in that chased me away ... which was followed by hot sunny weather. Some pics that may or may not be useful: https://www.strava.com/activities/11519332406 Webc...

Urea - We have a winner
The area that they treated this weekend lasted hours instead of minutes each day.
I love how they keep tinkering and refining the amazing job they do with that trail each spring.

Great report. There is no substitute for first hand, on the ground journalism.

Walk On/Off
"Heyo, Beast Fans! Superstar is open Friday through Monday for more awesome spring skiing and riding. The Superstar Express will be walk-on/walk-off this weekend, so we will be loading the chair two people at a time." The report is saying there is still a chance for June 1. Seriously? I ha...

World cup returns in 2024
Alternating years presumes some things that are not likely to happen. Killington got this race when Aspen gave it up. If Killington gives it up to another mountain (who knows what mountain that would be), it won't get to dictate taking it back a year later. The likelihood that another resort would a...

Re: State of Superstar May 11, 2024
at this point i'm remembering how well the groomers have been able to restore a good t2b run from large patches in the past. there IS still a lot of snow on the hill. i'm keeping the faith, and preparing for the worst. the weather will be beautiful. bring the bug spray. the blackflies are getting h...

Superstar 2024
Two things are definitely simultaneously true right now: the snow is melting fast and a lot has melted in the last week, but there is still a lot left on her. The World Cup Ice is beginning to show itself. Next week is warm. But I personally would be surprised if we don't make next weekend. June fee...

Re: Rickety old defunct lifts.
That's interesting about the D lift. When that was installed at Hunter in the 60's it was a revolutionary idea - a triple chair. I realized why they must have changed it from a triple, after so many years, to a double in 2019. A year or two prior, a woman fell off of that lift near one of the first...

Re: Rickety old defunct lifts.
Some of the defunct Hunter lifts were definitely pretty worn out by the time they were removed. The A lift to the summit is certainly a candidate. I have a chair from the Z lift. That lift was really falling apart when it was replaced by the Zephyr. The current mid-mountain lift (D) is very old. It ...

Re: Timing of Killington Forward
Trying to picture spring skiing without the Supe access road. I don't like the picture.
