Re: New lift planned

Looks like Alterra goes both ways.............. https://www.saminfo.com/archives/2020-2029/2024/item/165467-another-big-year-even-bigger-lifts this supports my pet theory that killington (and possibly all of powdr's ski operations) are going to sell to alterra. Why? Some Power resorts are .mostly D...

Re: Is it time to move on from hosting the World Cup?

I think if you look at Powdr overall, they are committed to USSA and FIS. Consider that Copper opens their speed training venue off SuperBee well before they open to the public off their Telemix lift most years. That is where they start their snowmaking on each season, the public option is second fi...

Re: Expansion

Sunday river has better lifts, culture and snow making than killington Killington has elevation If you want elevation go to Sugarloaf. I haven't been to SR or Sugarloaf since the days of the all east pass but I remember SR being very similar to K but with a smarter trail layout. The main difference...

Re: Opening Day?

fwiw, with regards to opening, sunday river shouldn't be any competition this season as their plan is to open in jordan bowl on their spiffy new, heated seats, 8-person bubble. that's 1500 vertical feet at a relatively low base elevation. they're also saying multiple trail choices. though they say ...

Re: Superstar 2023

I would be surprised if k ever installs another bubble , very labor intensive having to take the chairs off at night and put them back on in the morning , plus where at ramshead are you going to build the “ barn “ to store them , plus there more expensive to run and the wind at rams can be intense ...

Re: Superstar 2023

Just finished Mike S's SSPC episode. Yes, SS still sounds high on the list for a lift replacement, but so does Snowshed and RH depending on village timeline (wisely doesn't want to replace either of those until the final village site plan is locked in. Or he'd get the move the base of the brand new...

Re: fiddle next season

With snowmaking reactivated on Fiddle, what other trails are left that haven't had any snowmaking in years? I think it's Idler, Home Stretch, Touch Down, and Valley Plunge. While Conclusion was skipped last year, there shouldn't be anything wrong with the pipes because the most recent snowmaking wa...

It's an aging Poma HSQ, don't push it. You won't like what that gets you.

Re: Killington loses bid to be first to open in the east

Lost bid for first in northeast as well, and Sunday river boasting in there snow report that at Sunday river no walking is required. definitely a dig. but good let everyone go there. but they're not ttb either. they have a definite advantage because their lift from the base goes right to the top. i...

Re: It’s On! Again!

FYI they just replaced and moved valves, nothing added. As Killington (and every other New England area) has an above ground system, isolation valves are already required on every segment. Without them, trails that you don't want to make snow on would be charged and would need adequate flow via som...

Re: Opening Day Contest 2022/20023

Regardless, AFAIK, no one else in the NE is making snow and suspect whatever Killington makes now will melt out. Even if it doesn't, I'm fine with what is happening, and Killington owes their pass holders and customers no explanation. Jay and Sugarbush North both saw snowmaking today. I might have ...

Re: Opening Day Contest 2022/20023

I hope you are right but if I'm wearing shorts on future Nov days I'm not going to be surprised anymore. Well, for this one year anyway, we're near record warm right now while the west is darn cold and snowy. Western areas are opening by the handfuls, many either their earliest ever or earliest in ...
