Re: Pico Fireplace
The sign implies that it was a covid thing from last year, since people congregate there. Obviously we're not out of the pandemic yet, but if they're having live music in the bars and Olympic watch parties, then there's no reason they should keep the fireplaces closed. It didn't say anything about ...

Pico Fireplace
I was just at Pico this weekend and noticed there was a sign prohibiting fires in the nice fireplaces they have there in the lodge. Anyone know what happened there? Is this a temporary thing or is the fireplace at Pico finally dead?

Re: Camelback Nightmare
Places like this and mountain creek have always disgusted me. They put dollar signs before safety ALL THE TIME. They don’t give a sh*t, and haven’t given a sh*t in years. In addition during this pandemic they did nothing to ensure social distancing on the weekends. Packed em in like sardines. Terri...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
I am from NY. I was on here early arguing with people that thought this was overblown and like the flu, we are taking it seriously. People here are taking it pretty well considering how bad it is here. It is not that NY'ers are somehow stupid, it is that we have a lot of people come through the city...

Re: Would IKON/ Epic/Killington now adjust pass policies?
They can throw me some beast bucks next season but don't expect anything. I wouldn't want anything if suddenly it became 80 degrees every day and every mountain had to close. It is as if that happened here. This is a disaster. So me losing out on the rest of the season here in mid march isn't the en...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
Yes she works for a private sector lab. The issue is though they do not have enough reagents to test many people. It is not really the effort or cost. If we can get more supplies to labs we have ample capacity to test a lot of people. The problem at the moment is even if you have obvious COVID sympt...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
I've worked in diagnostics and my wife is running COVID samples as we speak. It does not cost $1300 a patient to test for any technical reason. That is the going rate when there's no scale or market (IE the few thousand tested so far). If supplies were widely available and enough samples were run it...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
It is untrue that all of the COVID confirmed cases were hospitalized people. We have confirmed positive people in the USA at home quarantined so that is provably false. Hospitalized means admitted to a hospital. Here's the stats for the past: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2017-2018.htm#table1...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
One thing everyone saying "The flu kills 10s of thousands every year" needs to know is proportionality. You know 2:100 > 200:100000. Tens of millions are infected with the flu every year. So if 40 million get the flu a year, and 50k die, that is a quite low rate. There is nothing to show t...

Re: NSR: Corona Virus - You Can Start Panicking Now
You guys are so far down the political tribal rabbit hole that you can't even discuss something that could kill millions objectively. Who cares what the terminology is, what "your guy" thinks of the virus, or who is reporting what. The bottom line is this is a very contagious and very dead...

I think it is pretty objective to say that Trump's strength is not the spoken word, and he is borderline incoherent. This is true regardless of your political persuasion.

Killington seems to be 1 or 2 a year on average. And as PinnacleJim said it is usually blue slope into the trees.

Re: best learn to ski/ride deal anywhere
Yes this is a great thing and good for Killington too. Because people tend to return to where they learned. I was sitting with Mike S in the gondola one time and told him what a great thing this is and they should expand it. We need to keep growing the sport because it isn't the most approachable or...

Re: Lift Discussion
Usually at Killington there are ways to mitigate lifts being down for experienced people there. And in general I really don't wait in many lines. Even when it is as busy as it gets if you avoid Ramshead and K1 Gondola it isn't that bad. Superstar chair, Canyon and now even SPE is usually pretty acce...

Re: Lift problems now a very regular fact of life at K and t
Skyeship is probably the most stop prone as the doors on the cabins no longer close properly all the time. These lifts can be made to run reliably despite their age. They aren't stopping due to catastrophic or long running failures for the most part, it is sensors tripping. They just have to focus m...
