Re: Killington Night Skiing Potential
Killington had night skiing on Snowshed in the late 70’s or early 80’s there weren’t a lot of takers. Most of you weren’t around then but I was. Ask some real senior managers or Gene Syria who just retired as 46 years as the lift maintenance manager on 8/31/23. Or Greg Hilte in charge of snow makin...

Re: The Smallest Ski Areas In The US
Back in the 90's we had mighty Belle Mountain Ski Area in Lambertville NJ. When you couldn't head out of town and there was actually some snow on the ground, you could go to Belle. About $10 for a lift ticket as I recall, less for kids. One real lift, a slow double. The lodge was a yurt and the rent...

Re: 2020-21 Killington Season Passes
Unlimited K pass with early discount was $969 last year so $30 increase, about 3%.boston_e wrote:What were they last year? Weren’t they something like $929? That’s a big increase.
And once again no mention of any benefit at Copper. Yuck

Saturday 1/11/20 report
We came up this weekend instead of canceling plans because the forecasted precip% was under 50% for most of today (Sat) so rolled the dice and came up a winner. Even had partial blue skies and some sun early on! Visibility was also unexpectedly excellent. I covered all peaks today and no doubt Bear ...

Re: Lemonheads--when did?
They were pretty big in Alternative circles from about 1992-1997 then they didn't really exist again until about 2005 so I would say 1997 or slightly earlier. Their most well remembered song IMO is their cover of S&G's Mrs. Robinson and that came out in '92 so who knows for sure.

Re: Sunday 5/5/19 Cinco de Mayo report
The day started out with some sun peeking through the clouds and no fog. The groomed areas all skied nicely. Skyhawk is still skiable although you need to hike down to it. Middle Ovation skied very nice but a hike through the mud is required to exit. As the day went on Lower Bittersweet was deterio...

Re: Saturday, 4/20/19 report
Superstar in the PM after the r*in was actually pretty decent. I love skiing that spine. Everything but Supe, Ovation, and Skylark is cooked. Bittersweet was the worst skiing I have ever done. Blue ice, rocks, dirt. I agree that the upper section of Bittersweet was horrendous, pretty much an ice ri...

Re: Solimano for Governor
He built a wall of snow on Superstar and got the IKON & spring pass holders to pay for it. What I need to know will he ban all snowboarders from his administration. What's good for Mad River is good for all. Sorry, GIS, looks like Mike is building a 3 plank bipartisan platform (2 skis , 1 snowb...

Re: Pond skimming felony
Yeah, alcohol and a cheering crowd many of whom had cameras in hand induces the old "Kodak Courage". Add a lip big enough to get some sizable air and you have a recipe for disaster. Even the small icy lip that was on the K-pond caused several skimmers' runs to deviate from the plan. In fac...

Re: Friday 4/13/18 report
Great soft snow everywhere, just sticky where the traffic was light, especially Skyehawk. Best bump runs of the day in order of my enjoyment: skier's left on Lower O, Double Dipper, OL, Vertigo, Low Road. "Super" pipe is now smaller but is more fun for progression runs. Deep into Big Dippe...

Re: Spillway Steep???
Looks like Moose picked up two errors on the trail map. Pretty sure the left exit off of Cascade before it meets Double Dipper is the tree section behind the netting. I always assumed that was the original route of Cascade. That non-existent exit from Cascade on the map is actually partly cut from ...

Re: Monday 4/2/18 report
We had a more positive experience at Bear than previously reported, maybe the time of day was the difference. Skied/boarded there with my 2 daughters between 12:00-2:30 and everything was really soft, except for upper Bear Claw and Wildfire, both firmer but totally skiable. Also, we did not do OL a...
