Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump

Historic. Curious what the judge will mete out for a sentence. My guess would be a fine, maybe with probation, and no jail time. In any case, whatever sentence he imposes will probably be stayed for the appeal so Trump can campaign.

Re: Fox News - what we knew all along is true

I mean, positioning is one thing. Outright lying about it is another. There's no other word for what Hannity said there - he's literally lying to his audience. As for your friends, I think deep down they know their positions are nonsense. The reply "common sense" is a tell- they just don't...

Re: Fox News - what we knew all along is true

Wow, that's absolutely wild. For those who don't know, the charges in the indictment are read out loud to the jury at the outset of the trial. Then, after the jury hears all the evidence, the judge gives specific, detailed instructions describing precisely the elements of each crime charged. What Ha...

Re: 2024 Election

Sort of hilarious clip of Trump getting booed at the Libertarian convention as he asks them to nominate him. You have to give him some credit for having the balls to do it - he had to know that this pitch would not go over well. But he probably calculated that he'd get some attention from it. Seems ...

Re: 2020 Election

The Democrats may have had that agenda, but I don't think the Court was complicit. Since 1981 when O'Connor was appointed, SCOTUS had a balance of 4 conservatives, 4 liberals, and one moderate until 2005. That's when Roberts was appointed after O'Connor retired. I believe he tried to fill the modera...

Re: 2020 Election

Not much Congress can do without a constitutional amendment. In theory they could impeach and remove a judge, but we all know that neither side will be able to get a 2/3 majority in the Senate because each side would protect their judges regardless of indiscretions or crimes committed. What I would ...

Re: Middle East situation

Curious what people think of the ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu? My semi-uninformed gut reaction is that it's a mistake, for as much as I might not like Netanyahu's policies, he seems to be acting in his country's self-defense. I think it actually makes the ICC look bad.

Blamed the first one on his wife. Classic. Imagine if it were one of the liberal justices making overtly political gestures?

Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump

Sounds very much like Skid Mark's comments - no real substance or understanding of the proceeding, just repeating what they heard some political commentator say. There's plenty to criticize but most of these commentators really seem to miss the mark. Saying there's no basis for a prosecution, for ex...

Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump

Yeah Cohen turned out to be a great star witness. Just another example of Democrats being stupid and shockingly incompetent. Epic backfire. If the jury finds Trump guilty it will make a mockery of the people of NYC. I think opinions of Cohen's testimony are pretty varied depending on which pundit y...

Re: Can the Republican Party Be Saved?

I don't hate guns. They are fun to shoot and can be useful tools. But I do think it's asinine to just trust any fool in society to be able to purchase and carry one where ever they go. We impose more restrictions on cars then we do on guns. For almost two hundred years in this Country, states and lo...

Re: Can the Republican Party Be Saved?

For me this situation is an argument for gun control. If nobody was allowed to carry guns in that crowd this situation never would have happened. I mean how dumb is it that during a protest where violence is a strong possibility a protestor is allowed to openly carry an assault rifle. As to the meri...

Re: The Trials Of Donald Trump

While I'm not sure I fully agree, I can appreciate the logic that Trump needs to be defeated at the ballot box, not via litigation. Prosecuting an ex-President like this, who irresponsibly calls the entire legal system into question and his followers just believe him without thinking, serves to unde...
