Re: Superstar chair

Like where the bag jump is that they never use....or did they use it in April? Sent from my SM-S906U1 using Tapatalk KMS was using the bag jump last week when I was there. Okemo used to do in house installs but not anymore with vail as daddy. D line technology cost more and direct drive even more. ...

Re: Rickety old defunct lifts.

Also the only lift I've been evac'd from is the Red chair at magic. Still love that lift tho. Heron double chairs... love'em.
I never rode the black chair. Didn't sound reliable tho the stories I heard.

Re: Rickety old defunct lifts.

Bonanza and outpost at pico. True fact, bonanza is the only aerial lift in vermont without an evac engine. Rumor is there's a hand crank. My guess is it's so short and low to the ground they'd just get the ladder out! It's interesting to see how small the drive motor is on it. Pico itself is a lift ...

Re: Superstar chair

Not necessarily. They could do the other alignment that's been discussed, do a two year install, or run the spring operation somewhere else even if it doesn't mean June. I thought about running it elsewhere and unless you did the walkway to Northridge there aren't many good options as far as ensuri...

Re: sunday cinco de mayo non-report

I got seven runs in. 4 lark/bitter, 3 supe. Got soaked and you couldn't see on the headwall. Snow was butter. Went home dried off and watched hockey. I didn't have to share the lift with anyone was about the highlight! I decided against adventure skiing any of the walking required runs. On a sunny d...

Re: Superstar chair

Who knows if they'll even do the replacement in 2025. It's not like their track record is any good. At the earliest, the lift will be 38 years old when it is retired. This is uncharted territory for detachables, and they are seriously playing with fire attempting to push it as far as they already h...

Re: Superstar chair

Yeah, the idiots that run Killington should have replaced it over the winter. Zero lift stoppages at almost all other Northern Hemisphere ski resorts today. Almost all Northern hemisphere ski areas have lifts that are permanently stopped... Also the stoppages are due to moisture in the e brake line...

Re: tuesday 4/30 report

I went in the afternoon. Light turnout. Upper skyelark, lower bittersweet, superstar and middle o all covered and great. Upper bittersweet was a minefield just before the old trail. Lower skyelark was showing rocks. Skyehawk was walking required or ski over rocks. The middle o > superstar cutthru wa...

Re: Superstar chair

Talked to an employee today who said the replacement will be a 6er no bubbles. One was already on order and superstar was supposed to be closed by now but the bad xmas caused them to cancel. It was going to be a dopp. Maybe summer '25.

Re: Superstar chair

The rumor from a highly confidential inside "top source" is the SS chair replacement is leaning 6 pack. The company and configuration is not yet decided. 6 packs really are the industry standard for main chairs now. Anything that is in the spotlight is going to go 6 pack at a major resort.

Re: Superstar chair

Just curious... How do other Yan / Poma conversions hold up after 20 years+ of use? I'd like to hear from someone who knows something about this, not trolls like Downdraft and Bay Five. What about the 2 at Pico? Comparing superstar with the other yan/pomas is misleading since superstar has logged t...

Re: Superstar chair

Air pressure is used to release the brake. So, if air pressure is lost the brake will apply itself. This is typical of a truck air brake system, I am assuming what is on Superstar lift would be similar for safety reasons. Will the new lift have a bubble with heated seats? You don't want a bubble if...

Re: Superstar chair

There aren't tires that require air. Killington replaced them with hard tires on all the detaches.
