Air pressure is used to release the brake. So, if air pressure is lost the brake will apply itself. This is typical of a truck air brake system, I am assuming what is on Superstar lift would be similar for safety reasons.

I agree about dealing with the gondola. A bubble chair is much easier to ride and offers enough protection on a bad weather day. Also proably cheaper for the mnt to install than a gondola and may be more wind resistant.
