Re: tuesday 4/23 report
20240423_165744.jpg . The springtime pattern has arrived. Long bump lines at days end, blue sky backdrop, apres tailgates lining the access road. Glad skiadkt talked us into Panic/Needles, but he didn't talk us into Old Superstar. We skied around and waited at the exit. And waited. Sometimes saying...

Re: Final Sunday forall but Sup - Apr 21!
If you won't I will. Swirl had the best snow. Edgeable right out of the gate, no base ice. Went shopping but found nothing better. Went back for more.
What a sunshine overcast disappointment. Tomorrow's forecast is for... sunshine. Dare we believe it?

Re: friday 4/19 schedule
Deadest Friday in memory. Nice spring skiing in semi flat light. Lots of thin spots opening up. Many trails have deep snow pockets, but also thin spots. Upper Chute is on fumes at the entrance, but the rest of the trail is nicely sculpted bumps. Great Bear upper edge to edge, has wide openings at th...

Re: Only Superstar Quad After this Weekend!
I would gladly trade running Superstar only on this rainy day and redeem it for 3 lifts last weekend in April.

Re: New lift planned
Reminds me of when Kraft started negotiating with the CT governor to bring the Patriots to CT. Fancy big stadiums were designed on cocktail napkins, financing was offered, news stations carried speculation. It reached a hot pitch. Boom, MA agreed to build a new stadium. I’m not particularly a fan o...

Richard Nixon
I was young when Watergate happened, and most of my impression of Nixon was his caricature face, the unbelievably lame final walk on the White house lawn flashing double victory signs at the peak of his disgrace. He made some terribly bad decisions, but he seems to have aged well. He, along with Kis...

Re: New lift planned
This drawing also shows the bridge being removed from The Grand, greatly increasing the walk. It doesn't show a relocated Ramshead lift. There is no accent on the value of slopeside condos, it's slopeside promenade. Strikes me as designed by someone at a desk, not someone who wants a ski village. Yo...

Re: Sticky snow
Did you ski all 3 days with freshly waxed skis? If so, you don't know how much worse it would have been with no wax. That aside, fresh wax every day is better. There are also some field applied liquid wax products that are designed for warm snow, they last only a few runs. There is no miracle soluti...

Re: Eclipse from 4241'
12:50. The words of moose, and many others echoed through my brain. Totality is so close, i should probably go for it. Could leave right now and be to Sugarbush or at least Warren where there's a small window, but at least full totality. Last thing I want is to be on 100N in north Rochester before ...

Re: Eclipse from 4241'
We have a few friends coming in and are going to drive the 40+ miles to get to totality. It's not like this comes along all that often, and this one is literally in our backyard. From what I've seen the difference between 98.7 and 100% is like, well, ... night and day. Maybe night and dusk. Would yo...

Re: SkyeShip Gondala > Number of busted chairs..
If climate change continues along its current path, there's a fair chance making snow down to Skyship base becomes untenable in the not-too-distant future. If you're a ski area owner staring that problem in the face, would you throw money at the infrastructure most likely to be affected? Do you eve...
