pretty spillway is the the short trail section at the bottom of the canyon trails that takes you back to the canyon quad and connects to the cascade runout further down.

Actually , I believe that Spillway is the section of trail from the base of the Canyon quad to K1 with the pitch just below the quad being the black diamond portion. Cascade Runout is a separate trail running parallel to Spillway (skier's right), your other option out of the Canyon. Cascade Runout merges with Spillway just below the infamous black diamond "Spillway Headwall". You cannot access the Canyon Quad from Cascade Runout.

Search is a POWERFUL tool!

Looked at the map and it is the runout from Double Dipper / Big Dipper / East Fall / Royal Flush past the quad down to the Cascade Run Out. Not sure why it would be on a groomer report except to state that getting out of the Canyon would be groomed. Black Diamond? I don't think so.

Why would I give a flying crap. In the 30-ish years I've been skiing Killington, they change the names of all the runouts and traverses frequently. I simply don't bother to remember the names since it is utterly unimportant. Other than renaming lower Bear Claw, I can't remember the last time a real trail with any kind of pitch to it was renamed.

East Glade became Upper East Fall
West Glade became Ridge Run
All the woods runs that went on the map had name changes

Its not just runouts and traverses. They rename whatever they feel like...

I said "anything with any pitch". That disqualifies East Glade and West Glade. Both are barely intermediate. Bear's Ass, Patsy's Panties, and Toilet Bowl will always be those names despite the "G"-rated names Killington gave them.

FWIW, I think Launch Pad is a blue run, not a black diamond. And I believe you can access Launch Pad from Bear Trax which is a green trail.

They don't want beginners on launch pad because of the trails it crosses through once you get to Ovation. I agree with them on this.

Launch Pad is a green circle. It is the original Great Eastern. You can take it all the way to Skyeship Base or the bottom of Needles. What Killington needs to do is spend the money on a few crossover trail tunnels. They can put Great Eastern and the Snowshed Xover back on the map and make the resort novice and family-friendly again.

Yes and no.

Yes, it will solve the traffic problem as you suggest.

No, it will be an icy mess. Having run the great eastern/launch pad to Rte 4 a few times recently, I was noticing how bad the tunnels were getting. All ice, never groomed, and several washboards in them. This is likely because the tunnels are too small for a groomer to get through. The solution would be a larger tunnel, but that's serious dollars.

you cant have your cake and eat it too, I think the idea of a tunnel for the xover would be great if one cant handle an icy section of 50 feet or so (only crossing skyeburst is really the problem) then they can walk it which is what most beginners had to do on the xover since it was so flat. Anyways this is the east coast if you cant ski ice then move out west

A shovel and a snowmobile should do the trick in the tunnels. Those have always been sketchy.

Exactly. Big enough for a groomer.
