South Ridge Triple coming down?

Post by Goat »

During our biking trip to K yesterday, one of the staff mentioned to me that they were in the process of tearing down the SRT. I snapped the below photo during the day, where it looks like the cables have been de-tensioned/severed. I haven't seen anything about this on the board (maybe I missed it). Sucks, even thought they barely ran it.

Maybe they are reposition it? I remember something mentioned on the board about making it straighter.

There are no Act 250 permit applications so they're not going to do anything too drastic. Maybe this is the first sign of the long-awaited Snowdon Express lift and relocating the Snowdon quad to Southridge?

Taking the chairs off isn't particularly surprising, however detensioning the the cable is. My guess is they are doing some work on the counterweight or possibly the sheaves that required a slack cable. Say what you will about POWDR, I've found them to be pretty thorough when it comes to maintenance, even if it's on a chair that is slated for replacement.

Heard that it's being replaced with a HSQ. Though management is looking at a 6 pack.

could be just tightening the haul rope by re-weaving it. Also, many areas remove chairs for maintenance and then reload them at a new location. Check out the paint marks on the haul rope where the chairs used to be. Usually moved back about a foot or a little more.

Myself and two others have asked Killington Resort on their Facebook page whats going on. First question was asked over 24 hours ago. No reply yet. Bubba, have you been in contact with the management yet?

With the New Lodge scheduled to be completed by Xmas 2012 wouldn't it make $en$e to have a new lift go all the way to the peak so people could spend some $$$$ in there ?

Atomic's comment makes perfect sense. From the standpoint of Powdr Corp, it makes even more sense.
