No...I will NOT tell you how I came to know this. Place yer bets....

There is no posibility of a surface lift replacing the SRT.

It's on k-zone, so it must be true!!!

I bet that back in the late 70's the long term plan was to actually have that lift eventually, minus the top section.

In today's dollars, a lift like that with 2 turns, 3 sections and 6 stations.....probably $25m.

"Twenty Five Million Dollars"?...guessing you've never driven a nail or done much of ANYTHING construction oriented. Nol-Idge..itsa scary thing!

We already went over how a surface lift is not very likely to go in there
exposer to it will knock of time of operation for it
bad for kids
ruins the jug trail and escape and possibly the jug handle
bad capacity

You're clueless.

I have no idea if he thinks it is too high or too low of an estimate....lol.

I think that's pretty accurate figure for a highly complex detachable chairlift, that would in theory have twice as many stations as the skyeship. Detach stations don't grow on trees you know.

Faces South East toward the sun. After February it would be difficult to maintain coverage on that area due to altitude and the sun.

Haha I was talking about the bad results to them purchasing a surface lift instead of a chair

How about a cabrolet lift?

That would be something new in VT.

Mountain Creek north.

I'd rather see a rope tow than a Poma. At least the newbs know they can't ride a rope tow. However, navigating lower Jug on any kind of surface lift would be an adventure. Making that stretch smooth enough would be challenge. The new lift at Mittersill came in at about 2 million. That's a fixed grip double, I believe. I'd expect a similar price to put one in the South Ridge. Killington is just broken without the SRT. Someone needs to invoke the Pottery Barn rule on Nyberg and Cumming.

They won't be spending any more than they have to to replace that lift. They will just be moving over the snowdon lift when they replace it with a new lift. Unfortunately a lift that was only running 2 days a week for 10 hours max just isn't a major priority to them. Would be nice if they run it more often when they finally replace it, but I wouldn't bet on that. The Bear area really F'n sucked this past season for many reasons(not just the missing lift)! :-x

I would put it at less than that, assuming they re-purpose the Snowdon Quad hardware and can use the towers along the return line that they left in place. They'd need to add some towers, I believe, because the existing ones only had to support empty chairs.

Killington asked the fans what there favorite lift to take was a a very great amount of the people agreed with the south ridge triple. Its nice to see people aren't going to forget about it. Maybe this will start to pressure on killington to get a new lift a little earlier than they expected.
