Don't know the size of their operation but 9 million doesn't sound like they had a great year.

But I guess it's better than the 1.8 the year before.

There's a video up on Jay Peak discussing the Tram upgrades. In addition to the electrical work previously discussed, the spokesman Craig Parrish states that almost everything, all the safety equipment and the braking system in the drive room is getting replaced except the gearbox. They expect to run the tram next season at up to 2,000 feet per minute (23 mph). Killington Gondolas run at about 1,200 FPM. There will also be weight sensors in the new hangers that that can be read each trip for determining capacity.

The top will get trampled next year with double the traffic...........and the line won't be any shorter.

At least it will be safer.

The town may want to be careful with this! Since the property is under federal control, would it be exempt from local taxes till it passes back to a private owner?

Killington gets fresh mulch this summer while Jay gets $20 Million of fresh investment, although not much skiing related other than the Tram upgrades.

It's not under Federal Government control, it is under a court appointed receivership. The owners (Quiros, et al) still own it.

From what I understand the town is invincible on taxes and interest. Penalties the receiver might have precedent to stand on. The town might be wise to settle on penalties instead of potentially losing that portion plus costs.

I think the most likely connection to Leahy and Sanders, as well as the Shumlin administration, is willful ignorance. I suspect the program was creating growth and jobs in the long depressed Northeast Kingdom and nobody wanted to rock the boat so they never asked the questions that were needed to be asked.
