RFID

Post by Mister Moose »

Okemo is adopting RFID apparently. Ski club vouchers now require a one time charge for an RFID card.

What if you venture to Okemo to use your 3 days from Killingtons pass benefits?

Guess you have to go to the ticket window & get an RFID card. Question should be how are Okemo passholders going to use there days at Killington since K doesn't have an RFID reader.

At Stowe they charged $5 for my RFID card that is good forever. Okemo may elect to do they same.

Killington will just issue an Okemo passholders a day ticket the same may they did last season. They will need to be entered into the Killington database to get their three free days.

In the agreement that my son had to sign for his college pass, it stated that if he chooses to go to Okemo he must get an RFID card in order to ski there. I am assuming that the same is true for those adults who choose to ski there.

It's time.

This weekend was a sh*t show on ALL Chairlifts.

They have someone scanning and nobody managing who gets on the chairs. At Skyburst - they had 4 staff people - one in the box, one standing ready to hit the button to stop it, and 2 people scanning. NOBODY making sure 4 people get on the chair. Long lines for NO REASON!!!!! And that was at 3:30 on Sunday.

Mike - your mountain ops team is a 10 - your lifts team is a ZERO - clean it up for crying out loud! You've got the hard part done. Lifts should be easy.

Am I missing something? I thought this was taken away this year/ I don't see it listed on the pass holder benefits page? Would be great if we still had these days..

Didn't mind the beast bucks either to ease my first bar tab of the season.. Don't understand removing those as the money goes back to K.

Big Bob's post was over 2 years ago. And yes, the Okemo days were dropped this year. Part of the pass price reduction due to the Vail Resorts purchase of Stowe.

Thanks Jim, I'll have to be more cognizant of when old threads are resurrected. :bang

RFID is also not without its issues. Friends reported over a 45 minute wait when using their Max Pass to get their RFID card for use at Okemo. I'd be pretty annoyed waiting 45 minutes before I could even get on the lift. Crazy.

I've used RFID flawlessly at Stowe since it was instituted.

Its not hard, especially if you have a season pass.

yup, the RFID itself works just fine, otherwise its an 8 mile walk to stand in line and get one...same issue expressed by boston_e...

how would the line be any longer than purchasing a regular ticket? you got to window, buy reusable card and load it with ticket. Once you have card you load on line and go right to lift

it wouldn't...but the person had a max pass which is supposed to allow direct access to the lift...BUTT only apparently after you have the RFID chip embedded init activated at the area you are skiing at...
