Douglas XB-42 "Mixmaster". This was an experimental bomber concept that attempted to build a much faster aircraft.

Day twenty six at Stowe. With 50 inches of snow Tues/Wed it was a pretty easy choice to hit Stowe Saturday. I did 22 lifts, 21 of them on the Forerunner Quad at 2,360 vertical and 1 lift on the Toll House double at about 1,000 vertical to rest my legs. About half the runs were on the famous front four or the woods in between them, the other half on groomers including Nose Dive. The snow is deep in the woods, I was knee deep in a few places, boot deep elsewhere. Perfect, cloudless deep blue sky, no wind and temps in the 20's. View of Mount Washington and the Franconia Ridge/Cannon Mountain just fantastic. Needless to say, it was a perfect day. One of the best days ever I had skiing, if there’s such a thing. I was worried that the crowds would be terrible; but it wasn't bad at all. I waited 10 minutes once, but usually five minutes of less.

It all adds up to 50,560 vertical.

I have to make a correction on my post for Stowe, I was looking at the trail map today and they list the exact vertical of the Forerunner Quad as 2,056 feet and the Toll House double at 892 feet. Stowe list their vertical at 2,360. The most vertical for one lift is 2,100-the Gondola. So, I skied 44,068 vertical yesterday.

Sounds/looks like a great day of skiing! The "taking the Toll House" to rest your legs cracked me up...ya gotta love "true" 2k vertical runs (if you were at Bear or Superstar quads, you would have had to do almost 40 lifts to get that amount of vert!)

And then you drove back to Candia?

I was up at 4 am, out the door at 4:15 am and arrived at a Bagel Shop on the access road in about 2 hours 20 minutes. In the lift line at 7:20 for 7:30 first chair. Loaded last chair at 3:55 pm. Two après ski beers at a Pizza/Italian restaurant on the access road. Home at 8 pm. The walk up window price was $125, less a $50 gift card I got for a Christmas present.

102 Days for the season. Hit 100 days at Killington on Sun day for the fifth season in a row being the seventh person to claim the new 5 time hundred day season pass. Totally Cool.
