Mikaela will take a day or 2 off and get ready for the Down Hill and Combined next week. Hopefully the weather will quiet down and all the remaining races can be finished.
i've only heard super g. she's such a lock on the slalom she can't pull out. she'd never talk to her mom again. plus nbc would go crazy.

You are correct. my reading comprehension leaves much to be desired. Reading the article on MSN it seemed she would not compete until the Down Hill race and Mom / Coach seemed to gloss over the SL. Maybe because it is almost a given for Mikaela to win.

She puked right before the first run of the slalom which she excused to the post-run NBC interviewer as “really weird....maybe a bit of flu....not nerves.” They ski the 2nd run at around 11:35PM ET

She has nothing to lose and will go all out. You go, Mikaela!

Despite appearing sick, she skied well.
Lost all her speed in the flats.
Quarantine and rest.

Upon further reflection, it wasn’t a virus.

“It might’ve been a little bit of me trying to make an excuse,” Shiffrin said. “Sometimes I feel the only one who can beat myself in slalom is me. I beat myself … So it’s a really big bummer. I’ll learn.”

Will be interesting to see how she rebounds from losing the crown in her marquis event.
That must be driving her absolutely bonkers.
Now she's on a mission. :like

Didn’t she lose just like she did at Killington? NBC completely over hyped her. Saw threads on this site that said she was a lock in slalom. She completely f*** her run. But apparently she lent her skis to a snowboarder who could win. The US ski team is a joke.

Nothing is ever a 'lock' in ski racing .. especially when an Olympic medal is involved.
Massive target on Shiffrin's back. Lots of girls competing for their livelihood.

Anything can and does happen. She simply didn't defend her title.
Her compete level in the next event will speak volumes about her grit.
