I know the lake tahoe area very well -
PM me if you want advice on skiing Heavenly.....Note the best skiing at heavenly is between the trails in the various trees - and over in Killebrew/Mott Canyons

Ski the Nevada side of Heavenly in the morning because if you get caught over there in late afternoon when the lift shut down you will have to take a shuttle bus back to the casinos.

mott / Killebrew canyon lift closes at 3 pm, plenty of time to make it back to California if staying on CA side.
Rest of Nevada lifts close at 4:00 and you can ski to Nevada base from anywhere on Nevada side (except base of Galaxy lift)

Ditto on Killebrew and Mott; a side trip to Squaw is worth it, too. Been a long time, though.

Transportation up to Tahole could be your biggest issue. The mountain is sure to have serious lift issues (wind holds/closures) as well, hopefully not the case. And the avi danger will be high. I lived in Tahole in 1982 during a 7' in 4 day storm. Crippled the mountains and the region. Alpine Meadows had an avi that destroyed a lodge, a couple lifts, and a few buildings and resulted in several deaths. This storm looks to be twice as severe. Ski/ride with a friend and Chain up!

My last trip to Tahoe during a storm cycle, provided 4 days of skiable weather, and 3 days of wind holds with 100 mph winds... Hit and miss during a storm cycle in Tahoe. Chase the lower elevation resorts when Heavenly, Kirkwood, etc. are all on wind hold. Had two good days at Sierra when the Heav couldn't handle the blowjob. If you are staying at Heavenly on the Nevada side, and access is an issue by vehicle and/or lift, Mott and Killebrew may be your own private stash. Winds are a prob at Mt Rose, but its also off the beaten path. Highest base elevation in Tahoe. If snow levels are a concern, its a good bet, and the Chutes are damn fun. Just don't duck ropes there, an inbounds avy killed someone earlier this year in the Chutes who dove in pre-avy control...
