Re: Killington employee dead after Skyeship terminal acciden
That was my first reaction is why wasn't he tied off. There are hand rails in the "upstairs" of the gondola stations. Are tie-offs still required if their are hand rails?
He could've fell down the ladder/steps. Again Not sure tie off would be required because I think the "upstairs" access in the terminals would be steps not a ladder. I'm not an expert in this.
OSHA will absolutely be up Killington's ass, in the next few weeks.
Regardless this is a sad occurrence. I hope his family can find some peace...

He's probably worked in there hundreds of times and felt as comfortable as we do in our living rooms. 13' onto (I'm assuming concrete) is a bad fall. Again, this is very sad.

He also could've had a major medical event prior to the fall. An autopsy will provide more information. For all we know, he could've been dead before he hit the ground. In any case, it's a sad day for his and the Killington family.

Agreed.BoozeTan wrote:SnoBrdr wrote:Probably is like all the roofers here are supposed to wear them.BoozeTan wrote:we were walking thru the tunnel from Snowshed to Rams head when he came through on the sled. It was very intense.
Im wondering though why he wasnt wearing any find of fall prevention harness and lanyard. When I go into UTC facilities for work, any time Im 10 feet or higher off the ground I am required to wear the fall arrest gear. I thought it was an OSHA requirement
Often they feel they are too constricting and opt out.
Big fines if they are caught but it never seems like they get caught.
Same with those who opt not to wear seat belts.
Still a sad situation.
Im certainly not blaming him. Im pretty sure that I wouldnt wear the stuff if I wasnt forced to do so
Beware of fools & trolls here, they lurk everywhere.

Safety rules are written in blood. If fall prevention gear wasn't required already I'll bet money it will be.

My condolences to his family and friends. I am on the same page as Bubba, perhaps he suffered a heart attack prior to falling. He was just in the wrong place when it happened....
