Also, if this event is still planned for November going forward, it's 50/50 at best that it will be pulled off most seasons because of the weather. How much of that $100,000 would be spent already before the event is given the green light? I'm guessing most...

What's a 100,000k in real terms for either the town or the resort. It probably barely moves the needle in the grand scheme of things. What else is there to spend the money on?

"Mike Solimano’s Letter to the Editor in the January 11, 2017 Mountain Times states, “we have asked the Killington Select Board to include $100,000 from the 2018 budget….which will help provide hospitality services”.

I’m not sure what that means exactly but it doesn’t seem to rule out that some of that $100k will be sunken costs in anticipation of the event which may not be recoverable"

The resort has to provide lodging for the athletes. Since Killington does not own and hotel rooms, they have to pay for them out of their pocket.
