Ramshead peak

Post by K42 »

Does anyone know any spots to hike up to the old peak of Ramshead. I tried hiking up past Patsys from frolic but I didn't find any decent terrain.

There won't be any decent terrain there until we get a foot of snow minimum.

I understand that, but when there is snow are there any good spots to hike from.

Killington should offer cat rides to the Ramshead peak. Once or twice a season. Midweek. Throwback Thursday's. I

When there is a lot of natural snow (Moose is correct need a lot of snow ) I will typically skin up the old vagabond trail and ski skiers right ending up on swirl. (can't remember the old trail name) Lots of fun.

Actually don't waste your time on Ramshead. The best powder on the mountain is to the left of Coopers Cabin. Just keep going left as far as you can. Also some really good stuff for kids back there.

Let's go easy, people.
It's one thing to suggest the Yodler woods, it's another thing to put people in danger.

RE coverage in general, looking up at Northstar was depressing. It looked like a late October day after 2 inches of snow got baked off the rocks and then covered in a glaze of ice. Looking up at Low Rider looked better, but still depressing. All kinds of patchwork brown and grey showing. If you want to hike for powder this week, hit I-70 for about 2,000 miles.
