Sunday 2/19/17 report

Post by tyrolean_skier »

The day started with blue skies and sun but changed over to overcast in the afternoon. It also got a little cooler in the afternoon. Some lifts did not spin until 8:30 because grooming was still going on so the line at the K1 was longer than usual at that hour. We went over to Bear first thing and the lines over there were already starting to get long. Fiddle was closed as was Growler at that time so we skied OL, Wildfire and Bear Claw and then got on the long lift line to get out of Bear. Skied Thimble to Needles sticking to where the sun was hitting the snow. Lines were quite big there too so we got on the empty Nortbrook lift to get back to the Superstar lift. We enjoyed skiing almost everything off that lift including Old Superstar and Ovation. The only thing we did not ski there was Skyhawk because it was still in the shadows. The Superstar line was not too bad at that time. Mike Solimano made an appearance there. We then decided to try to get on to the K1 or the triple but both of those had huge lines so we headed to the Snowdown Quad and that had barely any line at that time. We enjoyed skiing the runs off this lift including Low Rider and Patsy's. Great Bear and Northstar had great soft snow and lots of soft moguls to play with. The Canyon and North Ridge were the last areas we skied and everything there skied very well including Big Dipper. Only problem we had were the people who were stopped on some of the trails preventing us from skiing a line. Skied until almost 4 because tomorrow will probably be a groomer day.

Glad I missed the crowds this weekend.

Hoping for less of a crowd situation next weekend with the frozen granular.
Where is Happy Hour ?
