(Gonna give me a hell of a time getting to work ) Though for K, this likley only affects NH, RI and eastern MA people.
A few years back Exit 20 bridges were redone, I think that took 3 construction seasons.

When I was in college I worked on rebuilding those bridges in '86. Jack hammered from 6:00 in the morning until 6 at night Mon-Thurs and 6:00 to 4:30 Fri and Sat. On my last day I threw a jack hammer off the bridge. We removed the bad concrete and patched the holes back on the deck and abutments (hard work). We also moved the railings on the side inward 4". There were 4 holes at the corner of each post. We reused the front two holes and drilled two new holes in the front. I remembered thinking this is a huge waste of money. There was a government study that said moving the rails in would keep cars from going over the sides. You wouldn't believe how much a bridge deck moves when a tractor trailer goes by.Big Bob wrote:skixc2 wrote:Don't worry, the Connecticut River Bridges on I-89 are set to be replaced in the coming years too by NHDOT.

Over the last few years NH DOT has replaced the bridge decks south of Exit 18 and before the climb out of the valley to Whaleback. They usually get them done in one season.freeski wrote:When I was in college I worked on rebuilding those bridges in '86. Good info. on construction! Update on the I-91 viaduct construction in Springfield, Mass. - we face another winter of delays through Spring 2018 if they are on schedule. UGH.
The 'Make I-91 Great Again" detailed project plan is below. At least everything is communicated transparently and updated for the public.
http://www.massdot.state.ma.us/i91viadu ... ction.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Spring 2018: Full Use of I-91 Northbound and Southbound
The full width of I-91 north and southbound will be restored and in use by traffic. The Joint Venture will begin removing temporary alignments of local roads that were built in Stage 1A. The Birnie Avenue temporary off-ramp will be removed as well, along with the West Columbus Avenue Extension.
Late Fall 2018: Finish Painting the Structural Steel
The Joint Venture will paint the structural steel, install municipal street lighting, and complete all final paving and traffic markings on local streets. All disturbed areas will also be restored and final tasks will be completed.
January 2019: Contract Completion
The completed I-91 viaduct will be open and in use, with slightly wider shoulders, new lighting, and stormwater improvements to help protect local water quality. The contractor will be fully demobilized from the project area.

Hoping VTrans begins analysis of those White River bridge footings and decks around Sharon and Bethel.
