^^This guy knows what he speaks Follow his suggestions Stache, and you will be happy . . . and, try to find Andrew B at Barker Lodge - great group thereAndrew B. wrote:I second the small hike up to Bim's (great vista) is well worth it but if its midweek the Lock lift will likely be closed. You can see Mt Washington from the top of the Jordan lift. speaking of small hikes; Spruce is skiing great. access from Aurora lift and then ski Borealis and 200 yard hike up Sirius. Gnarnia was skiing great but I didn't hit it this weekend
skied Shockwave Sunday and I wouldn't recommend it unless its late in the afternoon of a warm up. of course the steepest widest longest.......... may not live up to the hype but is a great "fall line" run none the less
the trees were all open and in play this weekend. steep trees try the glades on Whitecap or around OZ, for lower angle woods try last tango or blind ambition.
as you mentioned ripping down T2>Monday Morning is a GS ski's dream(access T2 from Jungle road if Locke lift is closed)
Right stuff is a fun steep groomed trail off Barker. if bumps are your thing hit Agony
check out the new bar in the peak lodge and say hi to Joe and/or Kevin

Re: Things not to miss at Sunday River?
Sorry for the delayed Trip Report but here goes....
Thanks to all who shared their advice and experience.
I did ride every open lift, some of them a couple or three times.
Conditions remained mostly Frozeuroy all day.
Limited my desire to venture off groomed trails because of the crust on 1-2" of wet snow the day before.
Sadly, As expected, Sunday Mourning was closed for a race (think Highline or Needles).
I was able to cross it so I can honestly say I have skied on it.
I did hit White Heat and several others of their steeps (pretty much all similar looking with the grooming).
Only bumps I allowed myself to hit were on Quatum Leap.

Looks like you took the grand groomer tour.
Wish you were able to sample more but it beats a day working

Re: Things not to miss at Sunday River?
Ayuh, late season mid-week means not much off hill open.
Freaky 2" wet snow the day before and then cold overnight did not make for the most optimal skiing conditions.
Didn't know about the Casino.
Shipyard brew pub closed for supper.
Brew Bus to Sunday River Brewing Co. also not running.
Butt.... with my letter from K, the Lift Ticket was only $30.
The Boss paid me four hours to drive up there and covered the Hotel (would have done that whether I skied or not, I had to pick up the Brits and take them to NYC on Thursday).
Stay tuned for my next trip report.

A solid lift mishap. Keep your lawyer on speed dial. I'd almost take my chances on the state condemned J peak tram. ( Only still operating due to VT state corruption) Total death trap.Seacoaster wrote:Things not to miss at Sunday River........ going to Sugarloaf!

Jay is quite lucky the duct tape held things together this season.

Re: Things not to miss at Sunday River?
I seem to recall a whole lift tower randomly coming out of the ground at Sumday Bigger. Having lived up that way for 10 years, I can tell you there is no comparison between the two. I would ski the loaf 30+ days per season and the river once in the middle of the week when the New money Jones' aren't around.ANGUS wrote:A solid lift mishap. Keep your lawyer on speed dial.
