When I was in high school I was very straight. Didn't drink or hang out with the bad kids that did. Then I went to see The J. Geils Band...

Drove down to Boston with kids I played football with, all a grade ahead of me in a big station wagon. We get on the highway and one of them starts loading Bud Talls into a cooler. We had two cases. I was scared to death. Then the guy in the passenger seat starts rolling joints. They talked me into having a beer and... (long story short) ended up smoking hash in the parking lot with hippies (don't tell snwbrder)).

Always loved the guitar solo... RIP Mr. Geils.

I used to ski at Cannon with the guitarist from the del Fuegos. Went to school with him he was a good skier. He works at the R&R Hall of Fame now (or last I knew).

As far as Boston bands go The Cars had the music.

My vote would go with Aerosmith but if you Bostonians prefer the Cars to America's Greatest Rock and Roll band who am I to argue.

Even though J. Geils was a Boston band, they always got big love in Detroit. I was horrified to find out that none of my 30-something co-workers had heard of them yesterday.

J Geils - New Years Eve - what a bash -

There was not a better bar band on the planet ( except for the Stones ).

As far as best American Rock and Roll band .............
