Anyone care to elaborate?
I only watched 10 mins and wondered if anyone would make it across after the turn

honestly if it's going to cost even one kernel of spring corn to make this event happen, just turn it into a polar plunge and have em jump in the snow-making pond on easter morning...

Somebody must have said, "Too many people made it across last year, let's make it longer."
Somebody else likely said, "Well, if you're going to make it that long you're going to have to keep it off to the side away from the Ubar."

Longer means more across the fall line, farther back from the Ubar means sharper turn, and a warm day means slow speed and piles of corn. Skiers did diggers in the huge corn pile, slipped on the scraped off ice, or stayed slow enough to make the turn and could only go 20 feet across a 100 foot pond.

And then the liner tore/slipped/moved/peeled down. Or something. Water droppage and premature end of event.

It was a great warm sunny day, the costumes were good, and the crowd was large. But we all knew there was a design flaw. Hey Killington, make it easier next year. Lots of folks making it across is not a bad thing.

Sugarloaf had some issues. The pond didn't hold water. Sounded like it was done at the last minute. A lot of mts do it these days and they're fun to watch but, meh...

Saw about 25 attempts. Some crashed hard before getting to the water. Others crashed into the sides of the pool. A few made it half way through before sinking. It was definitely a learning experience for next years event. Thought the band at ubar was good btw.

The pond skimming event was like a herbie magnet. The slopes were empty when the event went on.

Indeed. The K-1 had no line and 4 or less per car while the pond skim was mobbed.

I think its a great event and that it makes a great annual tradition. No question that the course design was not too good this year, but who really cares, the 'winners' are always just arbitrary.

All in - a bunch of people get dressed up in costumes, even more gather and watch and little harm is done. And like the last two people said, if its not for you, the rest of the resort is all yours for a couple of hours.

All that, and the King of Spring!

Actually, it was nice to see how many people camped out on the high side of Superstar . . . I tried to ski up to looker's left, but failed to see anything, then skied down and across the front of KBL and climbed up looker's right, but you could not see anything unless you were right on the fence . . . figured I gave it a good try, but missed seeing more of the event!!! All the costumes at the UBar were fun, butt the "road rash" on many of the contestants looked painful!!!!
