Friday 5/12/17 Report

Post by Guy in Shorts »

Sun peaked out from behind the morning clouds. Soft snow cover skied best for the first few runs until more of the base ice showed up. Snow pack is holding up as the groomers have stayed off the trail for a couple of weeks. Memorial Day weekend as well as June 1st looks more possible with every passing day. Large group from Albany were present for their 24th annual Snow/Water Ski Challenge with many dressed in shorts for the playing in the snow. Wet weather may damper things for the later half of the weekend. Physical effects of the soft conditions required extra breaks. Place is all mulched up as many bales of hay were spread around.

Quote Of The Day – Normally I only get this winded when hiking up the hill.

So happy I was here to enjoy such a glorious day. Just wish my legs could have lasted until 5 PM as the afternoon snow was skiing better than the morning snow. I got to meet DES on a chair ride. The partying on the access road was great and they were still there when I left at 5:30.

Impressive today was skiing with a beer in your hand, no poles:

That was a super day, and nice to meet you Ty! When you injured your wrist, I never thought of recommending you ski with no poles, just carrying a beer instead- she had a good idea! (she had forgotten her poles, so she figured she had her hand free anyhow).

Afternoon Report:

Ditto. Like Liv4ski said, as good as I've seen it in quite a while.
Goes to show, you don't never know

I only had from 1130-130 to ski on Friday and I thought it was just meh. It needed more traffic. I see it really came around as the day wore on. Glad you guys got some.
No skiing for me on Saturday or in the dreary weather on Sunday. I'll try for more this weekend and hope for sunny weather.

Ha. Of course it did. That is just my luck. I know I drove through six construction zones between Town Line Rd and the base of SS. That was a little over the top.

Regardless, Friday cannot come soon enough!
