Anyone know why they paved rt. 4 twice?
I am no roadwork expert but I dont recall them doing this last year when they paved from Skyeship to woodstock. Paving all they way to Rutland, painting lines, and then paving over again seems like a waste after round 1 was perfectly fine.

Base coat and top coat. Repainting of the lines between coats is required because people are stupid and lawyers are greedy.

Looked like a portion didn't meet specifications. Covered over with a shim coat.

It was the plan from day 1; base coat then top coat.biged wrote:Looked like a portion didn't meet specifications. Covered over with a shim coat.

They added some leveling shims and did a final skim at what appears to be 1" in parts. Not part on normal repaving. It also looked like the last coat was put down really hot. Drove by when paving, lots of smoke/steam. Wrong color for the binder t be burning thou. I only saw this in the valley next to lumber company. It could of been pre planned to skimp on this section due to culvert replacement. The state likes final joint near center line and fog line.Bubba wrote:It was the plan from day 1; base coat then top coat.biged wrote:Looked like a portion didn't meet specifications. Counted three passes of the paving crew with the primary base coat going on early in the project. Rt 7 south in Rutland could sure use a new coat of pavement.
