What infrastructure improvements could be made to improve operations during weather events that impact lift status?

More fixed grips?

More chair storage barns for detachables?

Unloading houses/enclosed unloading terminals at the top?

Pitch that idea with a solar array on the roof and you might get some traction...

So what is different about a fixed grip versus a detachable at the towers? As far as I can see, nothing. If you have to go up and deice a tower's sheave train, why does how the chair grips the cable matter? The differences between an detachable and a fixed grip are the grip (so ice on the cable would be an issue) and in the loading and unloading platforms. Nothing on the tower should matter, the cable and grip pass right though them!

Chatted with the Master rope splicer just after he finished the job. He said the length of the splice needs to be at least 1,200 times the diameter of the haul rope. In our case for the Snowdon triple that length is 140 feet. Now all they need to is get the wire in the air and put the chairs back on in prep for the full load test.
