Not sure why stich line is closed, can barely see a rock on it, skiing much better right now than it often does when it's open.

And if there is, why is it that we can have rib breaking metal rails in a terrain park, but no water hazard on an off-piste advanced run?

Clearly you can't write circles around anyone. That doesn't explain anything about why parks are open, but a water hazard isn't. Geriatrics (and young kids) are able to ski the park if they want, it is open to everyone, and park rats are just as roped from the water hazard. Feel free to ski circles around me, that would be fun to watch.

Not here to write circles around anyone... seems you and the more senior members have that taken care of by glance at your post counts.. keep it safe out there; sure an on duty patroller would answer or be persuaded to take a look at opening stitch. :Toast

Stitchline was still closed today and I agree there is no reason to have it closed but it might be fun because it's reserved. I didn't do it because it would have been a visible poach.

List of closed trails:
Skye Peak lift line
Superpipe trail
Juggernaut
Stitchline
Valley plunge
Touchdown
Sassafras
Solitude
Juggernaut Too
Rendezvous
Half this list just needs a grooming to be skiable. The rest are good to go now. Looking at this list, K could be 100% open, except perhaps the superpipe trail which may have snow guns across the trail for farming for the pipe. Open the mountain!

plenty of years that list would be much longer...yeah it's ridiculous cold out this week but the conditions and amount of open terrain are pretty good...plenty of snow on valley plunge...

No argument. Definitely the best Christmas conditions in many years. Regardless, I believe there's a big marketing benefit from being able to brag you're 100% open.

Juggernaught et al - there can't be a coverage issue here. Groomers too busy elsewhere? A diagonal to Rogman's point is why have it on the map if you aren't going to open it or maintain it?

Stitchline, Skye Peak liftline - These trails every year open once they are tracked and packed. It almost seems that Patrol waits until there has been enough poaching to highlight the stumps and boulders. Then the rope drops.

Valley Plunge - put in a fence to direct traffic away from the GE flow and open it all the way to the bottom.

Per agreement, those trails have to remain closed before Dec 15 as they pass through bear habitat. Waiting until they are hibernating to open. I'm wondering if the Vermont Land Trust (who own at least some if not most of that land) has decided not to allow groomers access. I am not a fan of that organization; IMHO they give environmentalism a bad name.

:beat

Bragging 100% open does nothing to improve one's ski experience.
It's all skiable right now if your batteries can hold a charge.

Happy New Year

The past few years they've been closing Juggernaut/Solitude/Sassafras when the temps have gotten downright brutally cold. I'd guess so no one ends up out there with hypothermia/frostbitten.
