Cannon 2/5/18 report

Post by DES »

That was spectacular, winds had prevented the upper lifts running on Superbowl Sunday, so yesterday was a powder fest for the Monday "crowd". Love skiing miles and miles of untracked. (no such thing as "reserved trails" like at K...the regulars at Cannon treat ropes as suggestions (at best), there were just as many ski/snowboard tracks down "closed" trails as there were tracks on the "open" trails and glades...they don't even try to hide or disguise poaches)

At K I don't think I even saw one rope up on Monday. Everything was open.

Only 1 true ski run closed at K - Devils Den. 3 other closed trails are Juggernaut, Sassafras, and Solitude - cross country runs. 151/155

Speaking of Devils Den... Why is it always closed? I skied it last year with way less snow and it was fine. I also think Killington should just groom out Juggernaut and get those trails open. Same with the 2 down at Sunrise. They have no reason to not be at 100 percent right now (unless Devils Den really poses a safety risk). Though I always thought Big Dipper required more snow then over at Devils.... Stowe had no problem opening every trail. I skied it the other day and it was incredible! And upper goat definitely requires more snow then Devil's fiddle and the Den.

J-nut is a great way to take a Brit group, or anyone, for an experience excursion and keep them out of the way and out of harm's way for an hour. I sure hope they groom and open it for the next two weeks.

Devil's Den has a bunch of sharp pointy rocks at the bottom of it, which is low elevation and south facing.

Masshole revenue that NH derives from Hooksett pales in comparison to what they would have handled had they approved a casino in Weirs. Always amazed the percentage of MA plates at Foxwoods or Mohegan.

Jameson out.

Southern LA used to/probably still does have drive through daiquiri/margarita stands.

And in TX, it used to be legal to drink while driving as long as you didn't go over the BAC.

Pennsylvania has drive through beer distributors all over the state. The provide excellent service. I have been to others that don't have a drive through, but you pull up in front of the distributor and an employee runs out to your car to take your order.
