Has anyone else noticed the crowd size at these games? It’s like no one is there. DH stands were more than half empty. Seems surprising for the gold medal run in DH

The events are in South Korea! 2022 is in China! Who the hell is going to make that trip?

When the girls say they love the event in VT they are not kidding - they never ski in front of that crowd.

There must be some locals. South Korea is a nation of 51 million.

I noticed the same thing [lack of crowds] and not just at the alpine skiing events.

Although not the same as the event at K, the other European ladies skiing events have way more spectators than I am seeing in S. Korea.

I was thinking it may have to do with the time of the day the events go off. The event start times seem to be adjusted for EST viewing but I don't remember the local start times from previous Olympics.

May surprise some of you but South Korea is not an alpine skiing Mecca.
The Sochi start times were similar. NBC knows .. true US fans will tune in.
Given the weather, event attendance at many events has been dismal..
although .. the short-track venue has been packed

Norway racer chasers sure earned their pay yesterday .. :like
Mowinkle was a surprise. Shiffrin is ready to take Vonn's torch

Advance ticket sales were reported to have been way below expectations at least in part due to tensions with North Korea. Hard to make that up when tension eases only a week or two before the opening.

Never considered that. I guess the threat of nuclear war may put a damper on ticket sales. I'll make sure I include that in my ticket sales forecasting model.

What music do they play when one of OAR's wins a gold?

They use both the Olympic flag and Olympic anthem for any athlete that doesn't have a country listed.

Many have enter as Independent and don't forget the Refugee Olympic Team.
