Gallery How-to & FAQ

Post by spanky »

To create a new album:
  • Click the Gallery link in the top navigation links section.
  • Click on the "Member Photos" album
  • Select "new nested album" from the drop-down in the upper right corner
  • Add photos to the newly created nested album by selecting "add photos" from the same drop-down. You can add photos via the following methods
  • After uploading files, you can then rotate/flip, hide, highlight, edit text, reorder, etc. by using the drop-down below each photo.
  • As a last step in album creation, select "properties" from the main drop-down menu up top and change the Album Title to something other than "Untitled". Please make it descriptive! Albums left "Untitled" may be deleted without warning.
  • Also, it is recommended to rename your album to something other than "Album##". Again, please make it descriptive. Note: The album name appears in the link/URL to your album
Some basic rules/guidelines for using the gallery
  • Please do not post any copyrighted, pornographic or otherwise offensive pictures or images.
  • Please create one main album for yourself.
  • Create any additional albums as "nested albums" within your main album.
  • Any albums without owners and/or titles (e.g. those labeled as "untitled") may be deleted at any time. This especially applies to albums in the "Member Photos" album.
One last tidbit of information... The main drop-down in the upper-right corner has some pretty useful functions... You can edit the properties of your albums, you can set the permissions to allow other users to upload/edit files in your album. Play with it, it's not hard to figure out.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post them here. This thread is intended to be an FAQ, so in the spirit of trying to keep it clean, I'll add your questions (and corresponding answers) to the post below this one and then probably delete your post.

FAQ

This space reserved for FAQs.

Difference between album Name and album Title.

Album name and album title are two different things:
The name of the album is the directory name on the server and the name that appears in the URL.
The title of the album is what shows up on the web page.

I went ahead and deleted all the albums that were empty.

There doesn't seem to be a way to delete an album if you're not an admin. Not sure why.

you have to log back in once you get to the gallery. We're using the old gallery with the new version of phpBB that we installed.

PM me if you have any more problems.
