Bush is selling out the U.S.

Post by RustyK »

Boycott the Navy's decision on the new presidential helicoptor.

Your tax dollars are going overseas to fly an American President.

The Navy's decision today on the Marine One contract is not just disappointing - it is outrageously wrong," Lieberman said in a statement. "As I said from day one, our Commander-in-Chief should fly in the very best helicopter made in America - and the only one that meets that standard was Sikorsky's."

I agree with you Rusty that the American President should only use American made products. It is a disgrace that he is doing this. What kind of message does this send to other countries? I would see it as a lack of confidence in a U.S. manufacturer of helicopters probably causing that company (Sikorsky) to lose some overseas contracts as well as some national contracts.

The US-101 is an Americanized version of the EH-101 designed by Augusta Westland, a British-Italian aerospace unit of Finmeccanica SpA of Italy, which teamed up with Lockheed Martin and Bell Helicopters for the Marine One bid.

Most of the profits will go outside the U.S.

I don't have time to wade through that entire document but...

Don't people realize in this day and age that there is no longer any such thing as a corporation that is not global? Does anyone think that Boeing is not using overseas suppliers on some of their parts? I'd be willing to place a wager that even Sikorski gets some of their parts from suppliers that are distributing profits internationally.

its true, but in politics its the image that counts. If I were prez, even if it wasn't necessarily the best or cheapest, I would buy american. We're paying his salary, the least one can do is kick a bit back.

Thats exactly the point. Buying from Lockheed Martin IS buying american. Don't you know the history of Lockheed (originally Loghead or something like that)? The Skunkworks? Kelly Johnson? SR-71? I can go on and on. That is an american company.
