Red(necks) Rising

Post by KingsFourMan »

The country may look red(neck) but if you divided it into just (2) areas - Dixie, and the rest of the country, it is overwhelmingly blue.

In the 11 confederate states (aka Dixie), Dubya won by a combined 5.1 million votes. In the other 39 states he lost by a combined 1.6 million votes.

What's absolutely incredible is that people in "Dixie" can least afford Dubya, especially his economic policies. So why do southerners vote red? because of racism, intolerance, guns, and radical religious beliefs. Incredible but true.

If you are a believer in the values of Dixie, God bless you. If the rest of the country comes to believe in the values of Dixie, God help us.

Spoken from someone born in the deep south.

woops wrong thread, but living in colorado for three years I don't recall it being "dixie". I lived in GA before moving to Colorado,,quite a difference. Also Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio....Not Dixie.......... lets not call people racists because they belive in jesus and voted for Bush or have different political opinions. The democrats really did not have a decent candidate for the whitehouse and thats why they lost.

your 100% correct, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Ohio are not in Dixie and none of them were ever one of the 11 original confederate states during the civil war. Never said they were. However, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Ohio combined with the 35 other non confederate states defeated Bush by 1.6 million votes while Dixie voted in favor of Bush by 5.1 million votes. hence the 3.5 mil votes for Bush in the popular vote.

Bottom line is that the Republican party is the party of Dixie and it's because of Dixie that a guy like Bush can get in office (which only makes sense) but that should be enough to concern anyone outside of Dixie. God, guns, and gays...never mind foreign policy, the war, jobs, the economy, the environement, just God, guns and gays. hard to believe isn't it? but absolutely true.

You could spin it the other way say those liberal nut jobs in Philadelphia, NY and California that can't stand my constituional right to own a gun, are against preserving the institution of marriage, want to slaughter unborn children and also hate the idea that Republicans do not want there tax dollars spent on supporting lazy welfare recipients are the only reason why kerry received any votes at all. But then that would sound just as ridiculous.

To brighten your day further, note that South is growing rapidly and 2010 census will alter percentage of house seats to c. 40%, up from current one-third. :P

No… I just like to call sh*t whenever someone tries to go to far one way(usually once that happens the truth gets distorted). There are plenty of valid criticisms you can make about Dubya, and I would never go out of my way to defend the guy. The US is extremely divided right now by our foreign policy and our domestic social issues, but I do not think that makes you ignorant if you agree one way or another.

Here this will cheer you up.

That graphic is very close to exactly the point that you are missing. The only problem with it is that Jesusland should be confined to the 11 confederate states of the south.

And the point is that Jesusland (the south) is responsible for putting Bush in office and Jesusland is not exactly a hot bed of open minded values and beliefs. In fact it's quite the contrary.

If you can't understand that, or don't believe that to be true, then you have absolutely no knowledge or understanding of the south.

I am not having a problem accepting that there are some or many wackos down there....threw many a barstool after walking into a bar in columbus, GA with one of our black friends and the music stopped. I just think the Democratic/liberal party has an equal amount of wack jobs, whos values i find equally offensive.

Problem is with the extremists from both parties as with your part of the discussion is that there is no moderation. Also I have not seen this argument presented in any reputable news publication so I really am not concerned

I hate the south... I've had MANY oppurtunities to move to GA,FLA,Texas and Lousiana... But I would rather work at a KMart in the Northeast then subject myself to racism and religious rantings..
