Star of Romney ‘My Hands Didn’t Build This’ Ad

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/20 ... contracts/

In a new TV ad, Romney features an offended New Hampshire businessman, saying, “My father’s hands didn’t build this company? My hands didn’t build this company? My son’s hands aren’t building this company?”

The New Hampshire Union Leader’s John DiStato today reports that in 1999 the business in question, Gilchrist Metal, “received $800,000 in tax-exempt revenue bonds issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority ‘to set up a second manufacturing plant and purchase equipment to produce high definition television broadcasting equipment’…” In addition, in 2011, Gilchrist Metal “received two U.S. Navy sub-contracts totaling about $83,000 and a smaller, $5,600 Coast Guard contract in 2008…”

Yeah - we all helped that business... And I'd do it again!!

The Romney ads are nice but Obama is sure to win the election. Almost every incumbent gets reelected historically. Obama is also ahead in every poll by several points. Business people like Romney who have had to make hard choices are easy to demonize when compared to heroic government types who do not have to meet profit measures and have virtually unlimited borrowing capabilities. Soon I expect the daily democrat ads highlighting the tragic personal stories of all the people fired by businesses Romney invested in. Also, most Americans simply sit down and ask themselves who is promising them the most free stuff and vote for that person. That is what the democrat party has proffered as their way to establish and maintain power. When the dems legalize all the illegal aliens and they chain migrate in their 60 million relatives we will have 80 million people with an average 6th grade education just waiting for the dems welfare programs to thrust them into the "middle class". I am glad I will be dead before it collapses.

My point is...

I'm glad to help an American business!
And really happy the business is succeeding within the model that I support.

After Obama gets reelected and the Fed has to buy 100% of the Treasury bonds with electronically printed money that fund US defect spending instead of the 75% they are buying now and food and gas costs spike up I expect oil and food companies to be demonized regarding their pricing. My hope is the entire world is so bankrupt from promising free stuff that a world wide currency devaluation occurs and commodities are forced to revalue to maintain a market. Of course they are limited by their input costs on pricing flexibility.

Please explain the details of the tax exempt revenue bond program in NH that you support and exactly what Gilchrist metals actually received so we can all rally around it. Thanks in advance for enlightening us.

Not gonna happen... I design large databases for digital media companies - I'm not an economist..

I don't mind paying...
I'm just glad that I was able to help this company grow and succeed!
Cause - you know - we ALL are in this together and it's good to assist companies grow when they need it..

I know we can't do it all the time - but I'm happy when it works - as shown by your man Mitt!
He called out Obama and look what we found! A great American company built by American tax dollars! Exactly what Mitt hates...

Glad he called that out!!! Go Mitt!!! haha...

It's funny. On facebook I often see pictures of Obama saying something along the lines of businesses aren't created by individuals. Of course, omitting the context needed to realize what he's really saying.

Of course I post the context and several small business owners respond saying they don't get ANY help from the Government and never had. I ask about their tax exemptions and then suddenly the debate stops.

Was this company "built" on tax dollars or did it grow due to tax dollars and government contracts. Unlike Solandra, most companies start by making a product then expand using past business experience and contracts to expand.

"Grow" - "built" doesn't matter to me - I'm just very happy to help!!! And I'd help again!
Tax dollars going into a company - creating jobs and all that stuff that we all love!!!

And glad your man Mit called this out!!!

Yea. Even speaking to the average person when I ask their effective tax rate, they realize things aren't that bad. In fact, we're getting a lot for "free". I can't say I want or need everything we get, but I'm not paying much for it (FY11 my effective tax was 13%!).

I don't mind paying... you didn't, even if you bought a bond you were PAID.
I'm just glad that I was able to help this company grow and succeed!you didn't unless you bought a bond, in which case you also helped yourself

Glad he called that out!!! Go Mitt!!! haha...

yet you support it anyway even though you have absolutely NO idea whatsoever what the structure is or how it works. Here's a hint though there are NO tax dollars involved as far as I can tell. The tax free part comes on the behalf of the purchaser of the bond, proceeds from the bond purchases are then loaned out ( I do not know the exact details of the 800,000 dollars, but it's not from a govt handout) the original purchasers of the bonds pay no tax on gains from said bonds as that is the enticement to buy these bonds. So again what exactly is is that you support or approve of? Seems like all you approve of is that it might possibly be spun as a negative for Romney.

If anyone has any further clarification of how the process DMC supports and approves of works please feel free to correct, refine or otherwise clarify the above.

perfect example of the typical obama supporter...

You are so f***!n stupid its scary. unless you bought tax free NH revenue bonds you had absolutely nothing to do with any of this. Again, have you had a severe head injury? it would explain a lot.
