if trump turns out to have colluded w the russians then he'll get his due...I'm gonna go with extremely unlikely...one would have to start w the premise that he chose to jeopardize his entire life's work and wealth (not to mention the threat of incarceration) in order to collude w the russians to steal the election from hillary and net himself a 400k a year salary that he declined to accept only to be lambasted by the media, impeached and financially ruined...cuz why? just starting there the odds are nil...

first thing that needs to be determined is what role did the Russians play if any...if there was a role who was involved? so I'd think the first thing they will need to do is see who exactly provided, confiscated or otherwise came in contact w clinton/DNC emails and materials...now where do you suppose they are gonna go look for that? at trump tower? mar a lago? I'm gonna guess they are gonna start subpoenaing DNC staffers, computers, email and phone records etc to determine where a "breach" occurred...if/when they find that breach they next need to determine who was responsible for that breach and lastly why they did it...

now if any of that evidence implicates trump he'll be in hot water for sure...and if he is truly guilty of collusion or worse few if any will stick up for him...right now he is innocent until proven guilty and so far there is no even a shred of evidence of any crime other than the leaking of classified information by govt employees/trustees...I assume those leaks will be a big part of this investigation as well...

1. Did anyone within the Trump campaign actively collude with Russia in that effort and, if so, who and how? What we have so far is knowledge of relationships and contacts without necessarily knowing what those mean in the context of this investigation.

2. Did Trump personally have knowledge of or actively participate himself in any collusion between the campaign and Russia, should such collusion have occurred? Somehow, I find this somewhat "out there" but we'll have to wait and see.

3. After the fact (i.e. learning of any such collusion after his election) has Trump acted to cover up any such collusion, should it have occurred, between his campaign and Russia or to hamper the investigation in any way? If so, like Nixon, the crime would be in the cover up, not active participation in the original sins.

Comey was the FBI directory conducting an investigation. He has no duty to turn over evidence during the investigation. And besides, since he was a civil authority, the information was automatically reported to a civil authority.

In any case, I'm not sure such a memo even exists as reported by the press, but it might - kinda like those Gump tapes. At least now we'll find that out and more.

Tell that to Nixon. While it's possible he was involved in the original CREEP activities as well as the Watergate break-in, there was never any evidence found that would support that theory. Still, he apparently felt the need to protect his people and actively participated in the cover up. That's what eventually (two years later) led to House charges and his resignation before a Senate impeachment trial. Nixon was elected by a landslide in 1972 and had widespread support at the beginning of the investigation from both the American people and Republicans in Congress. He maintained much of that support until close to the end. Trump does not have that luxury.

under 18 U.S. Code Section 4, Comey is required by law to report any attempt - including by the President of the United States - to obstruct a federal investigation.

so while there is wiggle room there of comey to insist it represents obstruction but he wasn't required to report it as such but that's a stretch, he's never going to say that was obstruction and thus it won;t be....from what I know it'd be virtual impossible to pin obstruction on the president unless it's blatant...

reading the above it seems obvious that comey would recognize obstruction and likely report it as well, but he also knows that often higher ups will suggest that resources would be best allocated elsewhere and perhaps they should pursue other avenues...the FBI isn't simply an investigative tool for the D's and eventually the media to use to shadow their political opposition until they find something they can use against him...

If I'm trump I'm telling him, stop the leaks that are attempting to damage the administration, examine the evidence, find a conclusion and wrap it up...but comey along with others continue to leak politically toxic stuff...some of those leaks are also a crime and need to be dealt with as such...
